People say all sorts of things that are just lies. Kapoors being against their daughters and daughter in laws acting has been well known. Around the time of her marriage Rishi’s daughter Ridhima had said that all her life it was instilled in her that Kapoor girls can do anything they want, except movies.

It is also well known that Babita took her daughters and broke away due to her husband’s alcoholism. She basically aired family’s dirty linen in public and as such she was not supported by the Khandaan the way Neetu was for bearing it all and suffering in private. Babita also wasn’t supported as well financially and Karishma did become the family ATM at 16. I don’t think Babita and her girls were starving but I think Randhir wasn’t providing for her enough to satisfy her hoity toity Bombay industry wife life style. There’s a story about how she sold her gold bangles so she could take her girls to a Sunday lunch at a hotel and be seen by others in fancy clothes.

Karishma didn’t struggle as much as an outsider, definitely not. But she didn’t have it as easy as all other members of her family.

anyone who even has the audacity to say karishma was a better actress than kareena (who people I know who know something about acting. Says was one of the cheesiest actresses in Hindi cinema ever) is seriously delusional or completely ignorant about the craft of acting!

Babita has not been the best mom to Lolo. Considering how she got her engagement to Abhishek broken and married Lolo to a divorced and much older man like Sanjay Kapur who was also father of kid from first marriage.

Babita has used Lolo like some puppet and Lolo suffered due to blindly obeying her mom and being controlled by her mom.

I don’t think Sanjay Kapur had any kids from his first marriage. He has two with Karishma and now one with his third wife.

As for SRK not working with her, there were rumors that Asoka was offered to her but she backed off and asked the producers to cast her sister instead.

Yes earlier actresses blindly obeyed moms or dads. Madhubala, Waheeda, Hema, Sridevi, Karishma, Madhuri all obedient to dads and moms. Rani and PC were also quite parents' darling daughters.

Kajol I think got lucky getting all those Dharma, YRF films on platter, successful jodi with SRK and being the only girl next door type in era of dhak dhak or sexy sexy glam girls and maybe family audience and kids were more comfortable with her, compared to the heroines dancing to ru cheez badi hai mast mast or tip tip barsa pani.

Kajol being the only simpleton and being misfit in all those wet sari or mini skirt or topless, backless choli numbers helped her get noticed in family audience circles. And 90s was more of a family film dominated era compared to masala films. Kajol mostly flopped whenever she tried skin show or item songs.

Very lucky. Outside of her pairings with SRK has she actually had any other big successes? I can’t think of any.

Bazigaar was a hit and so was Karan Arjun, but if it wasn’t for DDLJ would anyone have cared for Kajol? And then KKHH basically cemented her position as the ideal SRK heroine in romantic roles.

Now imagine if Karishma had gotten DDLJ, or Urmila, or Sonali. Kajol is a great actress but YRF and Dharma gave her a career and than marriage to Ajay Devgan gave her longevity.

kareena had everything in her to make it big. she is a natural star.

Babita basically gave up her career (I don’t know how successful she was or wasn’t) because her in laws asked her to. Had babies. And then her husband ended up being an alcoholic. She moved out with her girls and while she never starved I think Randhir refused to support her luxurious life style. Babita went through a lot mostly on her own (some of it her own fault, some wasn’t), without the support of her in laws or even her husband. Going by rumors or industry gossip, she made some incredibly bad decisions that affected Karishma’s life a lot, but I think her decisions came from a place of panic and fear of not allowing Karishma to go through what she went through. What an ironic twist of fate that Karishma did end up going through a lot of shit.

Karishma and Kareena know what their mother went through and how she went through it mostly alone. I think that’s why they are always sticking to their mom. For me the bigger surprise is that they seem very close and bonded with their dad now. Good for them though. Whatever mistakes Babita and Randhir made it was not because they were being intentionally and maliciously bad parents. I just hope that the sisters have also recognized their parents’ bad decisions and won’t repeat the cycle with their own kids, specially Karishma who’s a single mom.

Aamir in true sense just repeated Juhi in 90s actresses, Madhuri signed both films dil n dmsn at the same time hence almost same time release, but he didn't repeated even Madhuri after the blockbuster success of Dil

Srk, I have no idea...but than how many more actresses of 90s got main female lead chance in dharma yrf films during 90s? They were favoring only that utmost lucky screechy Kajol..even someone like Madhuri got only one film with Yrf that too when she passed the peak of her career.

Screechy Kajol snatched all of that from all 90s actresses be it yrf films, dharma films or even been castef opposite srk in main lead in numerous films.

Reality shows I guess Karishma is turning down herself due to her choice else I don't believe the TV channels are not intentionally offering her those and choosing someone like shilpa who is much lower in popularity compared to Karishma

Kareena as everyone knows got massive x factor and superstar appeal and charisma that flops didn't effected her unlike other actresses

Presently Shilpa is way more popular than Karisma..she has like 26M followers on insta..she has remained super relevant and is also doing a rohit shetty web series now..In facf every contemporary of karisma who was not even in her league is more popular than her now..be it raveena or even sonali..wonder what happened to her..
