Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor were in Ujjain on Tuesday to visit Mahakaleshwar Temple but they were stopped by Bajrang Dal activist from entering the temple after the actor's old interview on eating beef went viral.

Bollywood actor couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were prevented from entering the famous Mahakal temple in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain on Tuesday night by Bajrang Dal activists for the actor's alleged remarks over beef-eating. Confirming the incident, a Mahakal police station official said they resorted to cane-charge to disperse the protesters.

Eyewitnesses said despite the cane charge, the protesters did not allow Ranbir and Alia to enter the temple premises. Bajrang Dal workers raised 'Jai Shriram' slogans when Ranbir and Alia arrived at the spot to take darshan.

Gatekeeping is bad.

But Ranbir is a celebrity and you know what he eats and drinks. There are thousands of Indians in USA who eat beef and then go to temples here and back at home.

Plus so many temples gleefully welcome white people who most definitely eat all kinds of meat.

These politicians have made a joke of Hinduism.

For sure

The existing Government is giving a very bad name and creating misconceptions about Hinduism for other people.

These hate mongers don't even care about their religion, and the way how other non Hindu people must would have perceiving it wrongly due to their illiterate intolerant hateful attitude.

There is a scene in Mahabharata where Yudhishtira serves pork to the rishis. I believe deer meat is mentioned in Ramayana during the exile but not 100% sure. So meat-eating was not a religious offense back in the day.

Don't know about beef, but I can tell you this. No one's taking beef fry from the plate of any Malayali, no matter what religion.😆
