In fact same can be said about John, Vivek, and Lara. Karan probably worked with them for the same reasons they were invited to his show. They were all happening stars of the time. You brought this up ! I didn’t see how it relates to him inviting Dharma talents. Karan didn’t curate Lara, Vivek, or John’s career. The closest thing to Jhanvi or Ananya at the time was Kareena. But they didn’t speak for two years

He never launched an actor or actress in his studio till 2012.

So logically the KWK episodes of 2004/2005/2007/2010/2011 wouldn’t come under that microscope to begin with.

Exactly Karan wasn’t launching or curating the careers of nepo kids at the time. That is the reason the industry was better and his show was better. That is what I have been saying this entire time. He wouldn’t feel the need to promote anyone regardless of the fact they have yet to receive any kind of appreciation from the audience .

No it’s still the cringe factor for me.

Because if the argument he is using the show too much as platform for his movies (his home productions) that went on since the initial episode in 2004.

Completely agree...If he goes back to being a director again instead of this self proclaimed curator it would help the industry much more than his constant pushing/shoving down his 'talented' discoveries.

No the argument is he is using it as a platform to curate the careers of the meritless people he continues to launch. These same meritless people don’t have the intellect, charm and wit to shine in interviews. That is why Bollywood is suffering. So is his show.

Because before he started curating careers it was basically people got ahead because something about them already connected to the audience. For women like Sush and Lara it was there speaking skills that won them titles out of millions of girls in the first place. Lara Dutta was one of the wittiest most loved KWK guest. She literally won the hamper every time she came.

Nepo kids weren’t selected out of millions like those two women. There is no guarantee that they have any quality that really connects.

But to each it’s own! I agree the cringe factor his also annoying to some extent.

But going from director to producer to launching your own actors is a logical graph. An he has had success in it.

But Lara was loved more for her charm and wit. There was a pretty wide consensus. It was not just the hamper. Her charm wit would show all throughout the show. Even how intelligently she handled tough questions was impressive. Hamper was one thing I mentioned. You narrowed it down to that. She had many other qualities that shined through in her appearances. The same qualities that won her the title.
