I liked kgf but it may not be a genre which everybody may enjoy

if he made it he would have put ranbir in that role with jahnavi in the female role and based the slum in bandra and the big bad kgf mines would be thane or some such. so he should stop kidding himself and playing a victim.

yash chopra made a similar kalaa patthar with ab and shatru, rakhee etc, it was raw and a classic

the writing in kgf was great, just the scene where he picks up the bun from road for the woman is great writing and yash is a true star with screen presence and acting to boot

the dialogues, bgm, the supporting cast, atmosphere everything was great.

audience are not idiots to watch a movie just because they think kjo has not made it let us see it.

kjo lives in his own well, twitter trends don't dictate real world viewing

additionally, these movies have moved beyond needing his support, he was reduced from being presenter of bb2 to being compere of kgf2 and rrr, that must hurt. the point is now that those directors have got their toe in the distribution and other logistics he contributes zilch.

there have been failures in south too, beast was avg, acharya and radhe shyam flopped...

the worst part is there have been successes and great movies in hindi too, slb has remained true to his style, tummbadd, andhadhun, uri, tanhaji, udhamm singh, kashmir files....so many others but this guy will never acknowledge them because they don't belong to his clique

this is not so in the south, an rrr, baahubali, vikram, kgf will be acknowledged by the whole industry

i mean in telugu, they call hits non-bb hits, its a term now

directors who remain honest in what in they do and true to themselves are finding acclaim and thats heartening

the basic flaw in his arguement is he is constantly gaming what he thinks the audience wants to watch and not what he wants to honestly make

prashant neel is very inspired by super heroic, mass movies of the 70s and 80s and made his version, he didn't think whether that is what the audience wants or not

similarly rajamouli has been making these mass, mythology, big spectacles for ages

kjo's whole career is catching on a trend and sprucing it with lot of publicity and star value,

he took the whole barjataya and adity chopra romance, family idea and made it more bigger, glamourous etc.

i would anyday give them and mansoor khan before them credit for changing trends big time

what also helped was that all three are recluses and mansoor in fact left the industry while karan ia super marketing geniuis

but jumping on trends doesnt work always

Sour grapes...

You know i never saw KGF 1 and never understand why people went crazy about that movie when released. My hubby said donot watch it is of bloodshed you may not like ... I never had that gr8 opinion on kannada movies because of my old experience (sorry no offense) .. so never tried to watch it.

By mistake i saw KGF 2 promo and i was impressed and watched KGF 1 just a week before the release of KGF 2... You wonot believe i was like waiting for booking to open so that I can see KGF 2 first day 😆 but got tickets on third day

And so far i saw the movie 4 times, two times in theatre and 2 times on OTT 😎

How to make larger than life movies under budget without any OTT VFX but with a strong storyline and right cast. That is what KGF will teach you.

Edit: and special mention the hero - Yash... Cannot imagine anyone in his place as Rocky Bhai. That's the impact he leaves on you.

You hit the nail on the head. All of his movies have borrowed ideas, they are never original. Be it a family entertainer or a romance, he tries to ape whichever is in trend. KJo is a far better producer than he was ever a director. He should leave the story telling part to those with knack for it. He'd do better if he looked after his production house and left the actual movie making business to the young crop of talent.

His pan India dreams of brahmastra are not looking bright by looking at views of other languages trailers..

Now i got a doubt why KJO made Alia work in 5 min role of RRR. He thought if Alia becomes hit in south then it will benefit them for brahmastra but we know what happened to Alia in RRR so that marketing strategy didnot work... I guess 😆

Nikhil Advani almost admitted Kal Ho Na Ho's blueprint was Dil Chahta Hai. He even wanted his It's the Time to Disco song to be better than Koi Kahe Kehta Rahe from DCH.
