Trailer looked interesting Ranveer was good and the subject of the story is quite relevant too. The setting was also appropriate, a small town in India.

May be the story telling was not good.

How many mids are you going to make to let us know that 😆

1. Do you think it would've fared better from a female POV and with a female lead? *cough* Chappak *cough*. Production houses do make socially conscious movies, but they're not in it to waste crores of money. They would at least want a prayer of making back what they spent which they wouldn't with the women leading *this* story.

You want a socially conscious movie almost guarantee to fail? Fine. Put your money where your mouth is. Invest in such projects. I don't see too many doing so, do you?

2. The audience is nation-wide, but the people who need to hear the story are still rural men regardless of whether they are watching it or not. As small as the rural audience for this film is, it would've been nonexistent with the woman as the lead. How much did Queen or English Vinglish resonate with rural audiences as opposed to Dangal?

3. Now if your contention is Ranveer Singh is not as big a star as his fans believe, that's a different discussion. Nothing to do with women's rights or feminism.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar had a dull opening day as it grossed in the 3 crore nett range and its the same story as many other films opening in the same range post the pandemic. If we look at the opening day figures of these medium budget films they are all around that 3 crore nett mark unable to go much higher no matter the genre or the cast.

Jayeshbhai Jordaar with Ranveer Singh who is probably the bigger star among the stars of the films mentioned below has come out no different. The opening day numbers of the medium budget films released post the pandemic are below and they are practically the same numbers.

Satyameva Jayate - 2,93,00,000

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui - 3,02,00,000

Attack - 2,81,00,000

Jersey - 3,19,00,000

Runway - 3,08,00,000

Jayeshbhai Jordaar - 3,00,00,000 apprx

Jayeshbhai Jordaar should jump on Saturday but we have been there before over the last few weeks and the only hope is that if Sunday can jump huge then maybe there can be something for the film on the weekdays. The film could have done better in Gujarat / Saurashtra due to the local feel but even there the collections are not good and pretty much on the lines of the other releases which did around 3 crore nett in India.

Mentioned in n earlier thread..new gen won't relate to the story..and that's the major movie going audience.

And unlike what people believe here..even in rural areas this issue is not prevelant now...doesn't mean movie shouldnt have been made. But it required good and different promotion to garner mass appeal.

Regardless, it's a cause based film..hope people watch

Bombay Velvet se bhi khatarnaak disaster hai ye to. Atleast Bombay Velvet's opening was 5+ crore.

Something is seriously wrong with Bollywood.
