Not sure why she would keep living like that when she could just become a white person in 12 hrs.

Woah…I’d just can’t. At this point. Miss Woke McWoke strikes again
I know she faced color bias from the beginning of her career, people saying she looks African or a journalist saying she looks like a dirty girl from village or a maid. I think it’s good to see different colors and not just one color. It’s clear India prefer lighter skin like Katrina. But dp should word her words different, she comes across not so likable after years, I stopped being a fan years ago but I’ll watch her movies like a neutral viewer.
It's sounding like those fans who take offense when someone says their fave is having an affair with his male friend. First thing they say is, "How disgusting your thoughts are!" Jaise gay hona disgusting hai.

such a two faced woman
@ChameliBilli
Shobha De, very much a part of Bollywood AND close friend of her then-boyfriend's family, made derogatory comments about Deepika and how she looks like someone from a village. This is only one instance that we know about.
So yeah, Deepika has faced colorism in professional and personal life.
The wording in the mag is weird, though. She IS a POC. That's different from facing colorism. To the West, it implies racism, and I don't know what racism DP faced in India, among a billion-plus others of the SAME race.
Once a dumbass, always a DUMBASS!

I know about Shobha De’s comment. But how did that single comment translate to negatively affecting her professional life? Was she rejected by casting directors and filmmakers because of her skin color like Frieda Pinto, Nandita Das etc.? She has worked with the top directors and top actors of her time and still does despite being a mediocre actress. I don’t buy it.
To be fair to Deepika, she did this early in her career and has stated regret over doing them for money at the time. Since her rise to fame, she has dissociated herself from not only fairness creams but also Cola's.....unlike many superstars who still keep selling aspartame laden poison to the masses, even when they have all the money in the world.
