from being MADE to feel like a person of colour??Isn't she a POC?If she meant discrimination coz of being a POC then it could've been worded better..?
The way their skin tones change completely for American media. Wonder if Alia will get a tan for her debut.
she is just so darn unlikable
Biatch you is a person of color
How does someone who was raised in and lived/lives in and worked/works in Bollywood films in India even think to make a statement like this? Pray tell?! She has spent most of her career working opposite big stars. What discrimination did she face?
She did exactly one movie outside of India.
If Mindy Kaling had made this statement, I’d get it but her?! What’s she on about?! We need a translator. STAT
India and Bollywood specifically has a skin color bias. So her being a darker tone I completely believe that she’s faced discrimination, which probably explains why her skin tone changed at times.
The way she worded this caption is just stupidly bad. She should have definitely 100% worded it differently. Because as it is now it reads as if being a POC is a bad thing or something to look down upon. Just bad bad bad. How is she and everyone around her this obtuse to not realize what a problematic statement that is?

You’re telling me a top actress who has basically remained in the top tier for the last 15 years AND who was basically launched with much fanfare opposite a superstar and then has only worked with top male stars faced discrimination AT WORK? Spare me.
I’ll believe her if she says she faced skin color bias in personal life but not professionally. She’s not a Frieda Pinto that was rejected by casting directors for being too dark skinned for Bollywood movies

She wasn’t top tier for the entirety of the last 15 years. She definitely went through her low phase after OSO. And yes I completely believe that her skin tone became a point of discussion and discrimination in her professional life. To think that it didn’t in an extremely superficial and color obsessed industry is just being in denial. None of that takes away from how idiotic and even self loathing her caption comes across.

What year was she in her low professional phase?! I’ve been on this forum since the time DP made her debut and she’s never been out of the limelight for a single year. Her peers on the other hand have vanished. So I am going to have to go with a hard disagree on that one, milord. Skin color discrimination exists in India for sure, unfortunately. But I don’t believe for a single second it has negatively affected DP’s professional growth. Replace DP with Bipasha and I’ll believe you. Now if we are talking about DP’s personal life, then fine, I’m sure it has affected her in her personal life in one stage or another, I’ll give her some grace there but professionally? That’s a hard pill to swallow when we’re talking about an A lister who has stayed an A lister for the last 15 years.
