First time I am hearing that Deepika is average looking.

Oh yeah definitely, I find Kareena very average as well but her features, complexion and eyes are obviously more rare in India.. so people will notice you more. Thats what I meant with it'd make more sense for her to say that than Deepika.

Kareena has a very ordinary face and average height. Unlike Deepika who has an exceptional height, swan like figure and doe eyes.

I can understand if Ash is referred to. But Kareena? Why?

Kareena is famous only because of her fair skin. Never saw her in any beauty lists. She was considered hot though and admired for her sexy butt by male co stars and fans. But never saw anyone call her beautiful.

Unlike Deepika who was complimented for her beauty by Karan Johar and SRK even before she was zeroed in for OSO and made news for her looks when she just started out as a model in early 2000s.

Deepika did begin to get offers for modeling or suggestions to enter Miss India contest from her teen years itself due to her looks and height.

Her looks are good and definitely not average.

Though she is not as dazzlingly beautiful as Ash was in her younger years in 90s, she is definitely more good looking than any actress of post 2007 generation and definitely more beautiful than Kareena.

Deepika is a very good looking girl,specially compared to Kareena. Kareena isn't some rare beauty. A lot of Punjabi girls have similar attributes. Deepika's height alone will make her standout and Indians clearly like her looks considering how popular she is.

Well, beauty is subjective, and I don't think Deepika is beautiful. She was at the beginning of her career, and as someone pointed out previously, she had that spark right until Cocktail. All that's gone now.

Everytime I see people saying Kareena is very average looks wise..

And yet she is always some kind of a comparable analysis, as in...DP is more beautiful than Kareena, PC is more beautiful than Kareena, Xyz is more beautiful than Kareena etc etc etc., Why compare to very average Bebo 😂😂 hence proved, subconsciously everyone finds Bebo beautiful 😋😅😉 waise bhi idk what is this hatred for fair skin on this forum..so she is fair and has light eyes and a luminous presence..so does DP..so does Aish..so does PC...so does Naomi Campbell...every skin tone is beautiful..

Deepika is not originally as fair as Kareena and Ash.

Look up her pics from her pre modeling days with her dad and sister. She is dark complexioned or dusky.

She got her skin lightened only when she entered showbiz.

There is no hatred for fair skin but rather calling out the hype over it. Anyone with even average looks is called beautiful just due to fair skin. Biggest examples are Kapoor sisters, Raj Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Farha (80s actress), Preity Zinta, Nora Fatehi, Elli Aviram, Pooja Bhatt, Kangana Ranaut etc who are all having average features but are called handsome or beautiful just due to fair skin.

And some with ZERO acting talent and NO skill in language also made career for 16 years and became top heroine just due to fair skin (Katrina Kaif).

Rather the racist bias is reason why some North Indians (particularly Punjabis and Pakistanis), hate on Southern background stars like Deepika and think she has no beauty or taunt Bong damsels like Bipasha Basu calling her kaali billi (as Bebo did). The racism is the reason why every actor from Mithun, Chitrangada, Rekha, Ajay, Kajol, Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi to Khans, Akki, Rani, have had their skin shown lighter in films made post 2002.

Obsession with whiteness has grown so much that even a naturally fair actress like Ash is shown several shades lighter in magazine covers and LoReal ads. The pale white skin is not Indian at all and looks more like wannabe attempt to look like Whites.

In that sense I still admire Smita Patil the most for being natural, resisting all criticism and pressure and flaunting her natural skin colour like a boss without ever trying to look a single shade lighter. In commercial films like Namak Halaal, Dance Dance also she is sporting her natural skin tone.
