I think I consider myself "too small" to even comment on someone as talented/god-gifted/blessed as Lata Mangeshkar.👍🏼

I am against worshiping of celebs , but Lata ji is an exception.❤️

There's a reason why the music industry calls her "Goddess Saraswati" incarnation.

I would consider myself blessed if I even have 10% of the voice quality that Lataji has when I hit my 60s.

I can't imagine DDLJ, DTPH songs without her voice.

I think her songs in Mohabatein were superb.smiley32

Her voice started to deteriorate with age by 2000s, which is expected.

By Veer Zara, one could notice the discomfort in her voice. But she managed well

She herself refrained from singing songs that didn't suit her, which I suppose is fair enough.

You wouldn't want to listen Lata or Asha singing, "Tere bina mujhe Kick kabhi milti nahi", now do you?

Lata's songs will FOREVER be immortal than the songs of our auto-tuned, "remake" generation.

Chitra is another favorite singer of mine. She still sounds like a young girl in her old age.❤️

I also don't understand the comparisons with singers like Alka who're like decades younger than her.

She gave up Filmfare awards in order to promote fresh talent in 1970 itself.

The govt. didn't give her Bharat Ratna for no reason. She truly is the pride of India. Singing is in her soul. She has said that she will keep singing till her last soul.

And her voice in Veer Zara isn't as bad as people are making out to be

Veer Zara's music was a tribute to Madan Mohan who composed it way way back when he was alive.
I think it was fitting that Yash Chopra used Lata Mangeshkar for the songs. .

And I think Lata was good enough (considering her age). But off course, to each his own.

Lata is a legend, once in a lifetime singer. Like every human being she started aging and it affected her voice. I kind of agree that she shouldn't have been chosen to sing for young girls in 2000s...

It's okay not to like her voice, singing etc. But to criticize her? smiley3

After a point age does affect any artist in their field. As a matter of fact a master in her field,a legend like Lata continuing with her love for singing with passion was awe-inspiring.

Anyone can be criticised. They are not gods. And it is a fact Lata sounded bad in Veer Zaara. It is also true she has been sounding older for young actresses she sang for and her voice does not gel well with younger male singers like Sonu Nigam. Sonu sounds better with younger singers like Shreya in comparison to Lata. That is natural.

I do not need list of Lata's awards, achievements. I am aware of her talent and why she is the biggest name in history of Indian film music. The point is her voice did deteriorate naturally with age and she still got songs for younger heroines even though her voice did not suit them.

Comparison with Alka is only for young actresses and Alka did sound better for Madhuri, Juhi, Raveena, Preity etc than Lata. The audio of songs may be good but in video I felt her voice did not suit younger actresses. Her weakest work is Veer Zaara where she does not sound suitable for Preity at all.

I appreciate her decision to withdraw from awards to give chance for younger singers. Asha also did the same. But atleast Asha managed to suit younger girls and pulled off songs like Rangeela, Khallas, Tanha Tanha and did not sound like Urmila's mom.

Lata can sing as long as she wants and make her own albums.

I am writing on basis of her suitability for younger girls when her voice had clearly begun to deteriorate due to age. Whereas singers like Alka and Kavita have been booted out of industry from 2000s itself just because their voices seemed older in comparison to Shreya, Sunidhi. Though they were not *that* old back in mid 2000s.
