Madhuri Dixit Nene was one-of-a-kind. Her stardom and the kind of hold she exerted over the cinematic imagination in the late 80's and 90's remains unparalleled.

Which actress after her has come closest to replicating that kind of success? Is there any name worthy of being mentioned? Or is there still a void left after her which no-one has been able to fulfill?

For me: Kajol, Aishwarya, Rani, Preity, Kareena, Katrina, Priyanka and Deepika and now Alia all came close but none reached that pinnacle of success which Madhuri owned so effortlessly

It was a complement. I loved your sense of humour in that post. I don't have any facts to rebut your statements neither do I wish to.

Everyone is unique. So I wouldn't compare. Deepika is Deepika. I would not compare her with anyone.

I am unable to comment on Aishwarya's popularity in the South, but strictly speaking about the Hindi-speaking belt, Madhuri's popularity has not been matched till date.

No one even came close to Madhuri’s popularity

However Katrina was most popular since Madhuri exit

None of the girlies have come CLOSE to Madhuri's Mania of the 90s. She had an ENTIRE decade on lock. 1988-1998 her pussay was on FIRE.

The closest competition would be either Aishwarya Rai (but she was inconsistent) and then perhaps Deepika but her era didn't last as long. Today's Queen Alia just isn't as popular as Madhuri at her peak.

Katrina has the popularity but not the success. 99% of her films she's basically a supporting artiste.
