Either you are oblivious to how Bollywood is functioning or you are just don't want to admit to the fact how Bollywood is corrupting Hindu religion.

How is showing bad muslim guys not showing the religion in bad light? I mean - he is a bad guy. His identity in the movie is a muslim. He is doing something bad in the name of allah or jihad. How is that not a critique on the religion?

I remember Pakistanis being outraged over Allauddin Khilji’s portrayal in Padmavat. Writing on comment section at length how historically inaccurate his portrayal is 😆

Of all the people, they are upset for Khilji 🤣🤣🤣

It never striked me that the ritual of "kanyadaan" can be offensive until someone pointed out in front of me. That could be because I'm not Hindu and never knew it's full meaning.

I mean I got this whole idea that "kanyadaan" means father giving his daughter to the groom. Treating women like an object, which is demeaning but it's all a result of the patriarchy.

Removing the ritual ain't going to change the fact that the bride would still have to leave her family, home and last name. She would still have to adjust in the new family of her husband, live in his new house and take his last name.

These big issues need to be solved first. Otherwise removing the ritual just be meaningless.

You have a point.

Zeal the couple you're talking about sound super cool and badass.😆

Like arriving in a car and all the guests waiting for them, as if they're celebrity and they are their fans and media.😆

having said that i agree hindu religion is very liberal in lot of ways ( and regressive in other ways) it was even more liberal in ancient times we went from celebrating and worshiping every human emotion including kama to not talking about it in name of 'sanskar' the main reason for this being the mughal and british invasions

even calling your husband 'my lord" and not taking their name does not comes under "hindu sanskar" if one reads ancient text both draupadi and sita called their spouse by given name

also with all due respect i would like to see the reaction if any other religions revered figures called names that krishna gets called on daily basis or songs like "kalanki so and so" in the name of "creative liberty" and "freedom of speech" made about them kalanki means disgraceful bawal ho jayega

Your comment made me realise, women get taunted and feel guilty/ less of themselves by using these traditions.

Things like being called a paraya dhan - her sense of ownership over her parents and home is affected.

I constantly see and hear from married women how many times they are made to feel less worthy because they aren’t that good cooks; or are unable to please their husband or his family to their standards. She is worthy only if she can fulfil her duties and her sasural with dowry. ( I have also observed dowry is like an unspoken arrangement that the girl has to be taken care of properly -I remember my roommate’s sister was trained to not do any work around the house, they guy has to keep servants even if she’s not earning because a lot of dahej was given😵)

I have also seen how a friend was taunted by her husband that during olden days women won’t even touch their husbands on their periods.. etc.. just to look down upon her.

Many are blamed for their husband’s misfortune or misbehaviour.

There is too much weightage on how a woman is supposed to make her sasural “home”.. and they are rehabilitation centres for badly behaved men.

Such things put a strain on relationships and are extremely demeaning to a woman.

If people understood religion and God, they would never worry about someone attacking these entities. Every single communal war that has taken place or will take place and the communal unrest in this world is all because of these dim witted people who think they are so big that they can protect the religion and God.They get stuck with the grammar and miss out on the beauty of the big picture. If they focus even a fraction of that energy on themselves and work on improving their own intellect, they will first do themselves and then the world a huge favor.

In one of my acquaintances.. a couple constructed their wedding as they wanted. Both Bride and Groom came at the venue together in an open car.. both their families and guests were already there. Hero Heroine of the day made an entry together in a filmy way.. no ghoda ghodi involved. They had var maala and phere but had made their on self made couple rituals done separately as well. This was before woke became the IT thing.. talking somewhere +/- 2000. No one objected everyone enjoyed it. Seniors in the family as well.

That is the beauty of Hindu religion, it is progressive and adaptable to changing times. It doesn't forces you, if you don't want to follow it. You wont be beheaded if you don't follow it.

Alia ad achieved its purpose of getting viral. Thing is what they said was pleasing to today's woke generation. That is what Entertainment industry wants to do.. purposefully attack a single religion and it will get brownie points for it.. no matter how oblivious it is. Its easy to destroy rituals, customs and traditions but it take generations to build them. Those are the carefully crafted threads that once connected society together and made living in it worthwhile.

Unfortunately Hindu religion will let go a pious, a once upon a time a beautiful ritual like Kanyadaan or Karvachauth maybe in coming times rakshabandhan as well. It just boggles my mind that are we as a society really progressing or are we going to end up destructing anything and everything that once was good.

Sorry thread got locked and mods are free to lock this one as well.. just wanted to share my thoughts.

See Kanya daan and calling girls paraya DHAN(wealth) is never beautiful but Karwachauth and Rakhshabandhan are actually beautiful rituals....I observe Teej similar to KC but more difficult.....but but but...I do it because my husband is totally worth it.❤️...and I want to get him in all saat janams....my husband is terrified of the idea though..🤣He is like...yaar saat janam thoda jyada nahi ho gaya...lol....jokes apart...what is the problem if a wife is fasting for her husband...provided that the husband is totally worth it and no one is forcing the wife to fast...I keep it out of my own will...People who know me, know that no one in this entire world other than my 2 babies can make me do anything against my own will...even my parents couldn't have given me in daan...if I had put my foot down...point being these are sweet rituals...why would any one stop these??
