Going around in circles still won't make your point for you.

Nobody else is required to celebrate your holidays for you. Republicans know how to set the conversation in a way where *not imposing* their religion on others is a burden and oppression for themselves. When you're so used to privilege, equality can seem like oppression.

Retailers and other corporates can say a generic greeting and that still does not make it a war on Christmas. You are still free to celebrate Christmas as much as you want and you can say Merry Christmas to your store clerk too and they will say it back to you.

Crying about not being able to push your religion on others and fear-mongering everywhere about it doesn't actually mean your religion is in threat.

I've celebrated lots of different holidays too. But see the difference is that it's with your friends and family where you have all the options and choices to do as you wish. If you don't want to attend an Eid party, you can make an excuse and not go.

Corporates are a different thing. People are just there for a specific purpose like grocery shopping. I personally have no issue with Merry Christmas but would white people accept all the clerks saying Happy Eid or Happy Diwali regularly? I doubt they would. So for corporate entities, why bother and even get involved in all this? It's understandable to stick to generic greetings.

Dear God!

At least the right wingers admit they're trying to cancel opposing views.

Supposed liberals are actually denying doing anything similarly wrong by canceling ideas which disagree with their worldview. Christmas issue? Didn't exist! Republican creation! This is in the face of actual links showing what happened. Birthing persons? Right wing fearmongering! This in the face of the U.S. BUDGET PROPOSAL using that term! A U.N. affiliated program called women menstruating persons! How much more evidence can there be that cancelation is a left wing problem as much as it is right wing? And canceling who? Cisgender women for their big crime of existing?

Actually, forget even wings. This is a Lord of the Flies problem. Immense power in the hands of an immature few.

While I do admire your deflecting skills, I have no interest in RW/LW politics.

I just wanted to share my experience. Corporates prefer "Happy Holidays" to "Merry Christmas". Thats it. Now you can interpret that in N number of ways calling it "War on Christmas", "Trying not to offend the non-christian crowd", "All inclusive" etc etc. That's on you, don't care.

But what is there to get offended if someone says happy Diwali or merry Christmas? I just don’t get it.

It’s alright if someone wishes to use generic greetings.. and it’s alright if someone says happy Diwali or merry Christmas. Wish hi toh kar rahe hain apne tareeke se..gaali thodi de rahe hai ..

Like I said, I have no issue with it. I don't mind people wishing me anything they want. A nice greeting is a nice greeting in any religion. But a significant part of the population is not like that. These Karens crying about the "War on Christmas" (because boo hoo hoo, clerks said Happy Holidays instead of Merry Christmas) would be the same ones crying very hard if they had to deal with Happy Eid and Happy Diwali greetings. They want cultural and religious hegemony for only their culture and only their religion.

In the US, that can be very problematic because it is not a country built on religion even if there is one that is in the majority. It's not even a country that "belongs" to anyone. Everyone is an immigrant, including the white people. The only natives are Native Americans and they have been killed and pushed into small regions.

Like hotchoco said in one of her previous replies . American Christians( cough Republicans) have a history of pushing their religion and they tend to be subtle about it but it’s there. Also There is a growing number of ex-Christians or Christians who aren’t religious anymore who don’t want to hear it .

I don’t think india se zyda people create more issues or agenda with religion.

@bold, I just don’t get this about the west, its being too rigid in their beliefs, its as bad as people trying to push their religion onto others.

I don’t get some countries banning hijab as well.. why?

Respectfully Disagree .Ex-Christians have every right to disavow their religion and have nothing to do with it ( same for people from any other religion). State being separate from religion is just what should be the case ( alternative is what Islamic countries have with Shariah).
