But why is it a problem? As a corporate, isn't it better not to impose any religion on anyone? If someone indicates to you that they are Christian, then you can respond to them in the same way. There would be atheists, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists and others who would also be shopping there.

So the member arguing with you about Christmas uproar is right winger now?

I mean anyone with an opposing view becomes, right winger?

What even.

You said Christian holidays are celebrated widely, so I said coz Christians are majority here.
White House celebrates Diwali and Eid too. Don’t they? Anyways, my point was, as long as majority isn’t crushing down on minorities, what’s the fuss about? Why constantly keep crying about being minority? India and America are still a democracies and minorities are thriving. If they weren’t, minorities won’t chose these countries to settle down. It’s a glaring fact.

So what exactly are you arguing over then? 😆

Thats's exactly what everyone else is saying...that people are becoming intolerant and are ready to get offended over anything, even a greeting. In turn businesses are playing it safe, so they don't get cancelled/boycotted.

There is no war on Christmas. It's just Republicans fear-mongering and trying to scare the white people that these brown minorities are going to take over. The general public doesn't care about any of this stuff.

With that said, minorities do make their presence felt wherever they get a significant number somewhere. There are some schools in NJ that give a day off for Diwali because there are Indian students there that lobbied for it. Nobody else has any problem with it either. Everyone is happy to get a day off.

So glad to hear that and hopefully we can continue to push in more places 🤞.

Nobody was going to get cancelled or boycotted over Merry Christmas in the first place. We're talking about Canada, not certain other countries.

Corporates aren't human. They are organizations. It makes perfect sense for them to remain away from anything that can seem politicized. It's just an effort to make everyone comfortable.

So you do agree Corporates would prefer a more politically correct greeting like "Happy Holidays" and some might have enforced it. It's not a Right winger "Hoax". 😆

I can’t speak for western countries, but in India, festivals are a great way to celebrate. I’m a Hindu and I have been to Iftaar and Eid parties, Christmas parties.. they are actually great way to socialise and enjoy.. I just don’t understand why some people may find it uncomfortable.

Unless, if something bothers me- like I’m a vegetarian, my non veg friends show consideration and we adjust..

I don’t think boycotting or cancelling things will work- people should learn to accommodate and open their hearts..

Go back few pages . The entire argument started because aaditi123 put Bill Burr’s post on War on Christmas and I was referring to him . Also White House acknowledging Diwali or Eid is bare minimum( Trump even didn’t do that ). No one is making a fuss in here .

In Oman and UAE, it’s a Muslim country and people can’t even show its a church or a temple from outside but during Christmas all malls are decorated with Christmas trees 🎄 🤣

It is Happy Holidays because there is both Merry Christmas and Happy New Year . It’s actually closer to accurate than just sending Merry Christmas.
