WHAT! Aishwarya Rai Couldn't Be A Part Of Karan Johar's Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham Because Of Kajol

Karan Johar's family drama Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham was definitely a major game-changer when it came to Indian cinema. The film boosted of a 'constellation' of stars and was a box-office blockbuster.

It brought back together two veteran actors- Big B and his wife Jaya Bachchan on screen, SRK-Kajol's cute antics and Kareena Kapoor's 'Pooh' made the film even more memorable.

But do you guys know that Aishwarya Rai would have played Anjali Sharma onscreen had Kajol turned down the role? Surprising, isn't it? But yes, that's cent percent true and this revelation was made by none other than KJo himself in his book, 'An Unsuitable Boy'.

In his book KJo has admitted that he was not sure about Kajol's reply to star in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Back then, Kajol had just tied the knot with Ajay Devgn and speculations were rife that she might bid adieu to her acting career to concentrate on her family post marriage.

The filmmaker further added that he was mentally prepared that Kajol would say no to the film.

KJo further revealed that had Kajol turned down K3G, he would have approached Aishwarya Rai Bachchan for the role.

The part where Anjali says no one even loves her in Chandigarh so why would a random rich guy love her? I wouldn't buy it if Aish was saying this

Thank God Kajol said Yes, otherwise Aishwarya would have ruined it.

Kajol was bad enough in it. That movie worked only because people were into seeing SRK and Kajol together. Along with the Bacchans ofcourse. Aishwarya is horrible in any role where she's not playing a reserved traditional Indian woman.

Kajol was horrendous in the movie and movie was headache inducing bad. Ash didn't lose out much.

^Why? If Kajol could play older sister to Kareena, why not Aishwarya who is even older to Kajol?

Aishwarya would not have done that well since playing a loudmouth isn't her forte. So for K3G, Kajol was indeed the better choice. But I can't imagine Kajol in Raincoat, Jodhaa Akbar or Choker Bali either - she doesn't do well in characters that require her to be subtle and graceful.
