My main question was why Bollywood can't reach the figures of Bahubali and 2.0.

Their total box office collections show that Indian audience is capable of bringing much more numbers, and Bollywood having the widest reach should bring in those, but still they don't.

Bollywood doesn't get it's audience. That was the main point of my post.

I agree, "dominate" wasn't the right word to use in my title. I should have said "top" instead if it. Apologies for that.

I'm saying BW now doesn't have any content, whereas the other movies mentioned like Bahubali had strong content. In the past, BW used to have really strong content, that's why Raj Kapoor was even popular in Russia. I have hardly seen any BW movie lately and haven't exactly felt excited about anything as well. Even the Govinda movies of 90s were more entertaining than these new revamps of Coolie No.1 etc. Maybe I'm just getting too old lol, but I can't relate to SOTY or Dabangg type of movies😆

You're absolutely right. If a supposedly "regional" movie tops everything else made in bollywood in terms of quality and brings in more revenue than the "best" bollywood movie out there, what does it say about bollywood? It means that bollywood is severely lacking and behind.

Bollywood movies seem to aim for minimal effort and maximum profits. That way, even if half the Indian population doesn't bother to watch, they make enough money to call their movies "blockbusters," thanks to the large population to begin with. Bollywood has also become more of a mass producer of mediocrity and mindlessness that's geared towards indulging nepo kids and their tantrums than the audience and cinema. It's a no wonder that the quality is abysmal at best and the industry hasn't managed to tap into its maximum viewership potential.
