But why whitewash a guy, who at most, is a “has-been”.. I think Hirani is just incapable of making a truly deep or good film (Munna bhai MBBS was a fluke). SD’s life story is made for biopics.. angsty relationships, cancer, glamor, dope, success, failure and jail etc.. it’s just that BW really really loves their money.. and they’ll alter real life stories if it helps making a little more cash than what they already have.. 🤑 legacy, quality etc ka inse kya? LOL

Can you completely blame Sunil Dutt though? Don't think he was a monster like what Sanjay's portraying him here. It's only because of Sunil Dutt's political connections that Sanjay was able to walk free

Hirani would've gained a lot more respect, than he supposedly, already has, had he just gone ahead with making a film on the first draft of script that was written for this film.

I totally agree with you, when you speak of his incapability of making a good film. A person who can't even execute someone's life story honestly, is definitely questionble about his own ethics. Makes me dislike the film so much.

Genuinely, that's not my problem. I have an issue with the writer and director presenting a dishonest and possibly, fake account of Sanjay Dutt's life.

All Bollywood biopics have been fictionalized to such an extent that the original subject would have a hard time recognizing themselves on screen. Creating fake love stories is the worst. When Abhilash Tomy (naval officer and yachtsman who while participating in a solo sailboat race was once stranded for days in a storm) was approached for his story, the first thing they (the makers) wanted to know was his love story. Hirani was not the best director for Sanju. But he was the one who was interested in making the movie. Plus they didn't want to be sued and didn't include some of the controversial (and interesting) parts. What's a Sanjay biopic without Madhuri or Thackerey? Maybe after a couple of decades somebody might 'remake' it.

You know it was fake when sanjay best buddies shakeel, dawood and his saviour Thackeray was missing from the movie, also first wife who he left on death bed

The guy has been behaving like an spoilt child throuh his 40s and 50s, can't take responsibility any of his action, obvious would blame father who tried to move him a good path

Yup. They could have made a good film even if a bit dark, it’d have made less money, a lot less than it has now but it’d have had a better shelf life in years to come.. Mission Kashmir for instance, was a darker film and it lost to a more wholesome movie of that time (mohabbatein) but it has a much better value now, 20 years later.. but as I said before, BW folks don’t really think in terms of legacy and respectability etc.

in an interview on drugs he said he did in highschool in boarding days as it was cool (on TV)

from where did sunil dutt come in this matter?

sunil dutt like any father was busy working his ass off to be strict or anything etc

which father will be quiet if his son starts doing drugs and drinks in school?

Nargis dutt hide all his bad things like stealing, failing in class, bunking, drugs etc from father or father will punish or stop his bad habits

narigs has a big role to play in sanjay becoming so bad i guess she encouraged his bad habits etc

sanjay dutt is a chronic liar i guess in every interview he says something else

in one he says his mother died young so i did drugs in another i started drugs in high school as it was fashion and i wanted to be in accepted crowd

in one he says my dad is bad person so i become drug addict in another he says my dad saved me from jail so i am greatful

The real hand in spoiling sanjay dutt i think is mother nargis and sunil dutt bore that cross all life after her death

he did not have one day of peace in life with such a criminal minded lying two faced son

one side sanjay calls dawood, shakeel etc friends and talks to them on phone and keeps their guns

and he calls his suffering father bad and responsible for his drug addiction

sunil dutt must be turning in his grave

if sanjay is enjoying life outside prison its thanks to his father

sanjay required a few slaps in childhood and some discipline to ensure he turned good and cleaner i life nargis prevented that i guess by encouraging his bad habits and hidding from father

sometimes mother love can spoil a child and sanjay is one example

the first time a child lies or steals thats when you stop him

if you as parent encourage it kids will become big criminals in future
