I don't remember dialogues of the movies as I had watched the movie a long time ago, but I'm just looking at things pointed out by you.
In the movie Oh My God, Kanji sues God for destroying his shop when he doesn't get the insurance money for his loss, as it was considered an "Act Of God" because his house was destroyed in an earthquake which is a natural calamity. The question here is, if everything is in Gods hands, do humans have no accountability?
The prosecution lawyer asks him to bring proof of God destroying his shop. Then Akshay Kumar's character who played God Krishna in the movie, advices him to read all holy books Bhagwad Gita, Quran and Bible, and in all three books it's written that every natural calamity happens with the will of God. Are they mocking the texts, or the people - blaming God for their own actions? What about man made calamities? Did God cause pollution?
So did the movie supported reading of holy books and considered it not a propaganda made by humans? But reading a book doesn't solve anything. People can be spiritual without knowing how to read? Is spirituality or attaining salvation dependent on holy books? Are there no revered saints who defied religious norms? Are people capable enough to interpret holy books at all? How many people commit crimes or acts of terrorism based on their interpretations of holy books? If that's the case, then did it mean God indeed destroyed Kanji's shop out of anger for spreading a false rumour about him all over India?
But it would make God a dictator whom you should fear and the movie gives a message of not having that image of him in your mind. As it's a false image sold by Godmen to make people fear him.
Then why Kanji's house was the only building destroyed in the earthquake? If that was not by will of God, then that means holy books are wrong. But then why Krishna advices Kanji to read them if holy books are also religious propaganda made by Godmen?
Holy books being propaganda is further supported by Mithun Chakraborty's character who is a Godmen, quoting something from Bhagwad Gita which said that anyone not believing or doubting everything written on the book would never get peace in life or death.
So coming back to my original question, did the movie called holy books man-made propaganda or not?
Do most people not practice religion out of fear than God? Are people more superstitious or spiritual? Are they not different?
So are they mocking books or people who are misled or misleading people?
No religion or holy book is to be blamed, but people who think they know everything but don't.
