I actually have a funny story (well not so ha ha) about this one. I was in my 1st year at the University and had laid out my plans to study abroad to my parents. They were so wishy-washy that I just gave up asking - plan was to get an acceptance, buy the ticket and get on board (was planning to inform them after I got there). Then ek hassina thi was released. My folks and I went to see it together. And their take away, as you can imagine... "See! This is what happens when you're in a place without any contacts or connections." Needless to say I was shattered... Not because of what they said (well that too) but that I actually, finally, saw their point and felt their fear.
Fast forward 2 months later I was accepted to a program in Melbourne. They would cover room and board but I had to manage food etc... It was such a good opportunity but I decided to pass it. I didn't know what could happen and I just didn't feel like taking a chance and putting parents through that...
So to this day I haven't re-watched that movie (I still hold a grudge against both lead actors for performing so believably). And at every mention of the movie I re-live those months again and again.... With a cliff hanger question... What if... What if...
And that's my sad little story.
