OTT appreciation doesn't amount to much?

Getting critical appreciation from OTT platforms doesn't translate into getting concrete films offers? In recent past, we have seen Tripti from Bulbbul and Saiyami Kher from Choked getting rave reviews for their work. But neither of them, as far as I know, has film offers in hand.

The fact remains, OTT ventures attract few eyeballs because only a minuscule portion of the audience watches them. As opposed to a movie released in theater halls, the visibility, reach and scope is less. True, they might get token appreciation from the classes and critics. But majority of the population still might not even know the name of Tripti.

The larger-than-life films attract audiences from all over the country and cuts across narrow divides of class. OTT is reserved for a niche elite few. They can'r propel someone into super stardom.

Yes ,it does not amount much in the final tally because there is no barometer to gauge the success here .Also OTT films have no longevity.People tend to forget them easily!

They have to do more work before they land a role in the movies..say 5-6 series that do well..the problem is that there are so many good actors in ott, directors have a problem of plenty as these people add to the pool they already know well...

Time lagega but they will bag meaty roles in movies eventually...being noticed by Kashyap is a big thing for one's career..he will cast saiyami again..maybe even in movies if she meets the requirement of the script

They matter, but only when the said product is popular, I barely saw Bulbul being discussed or praised extensively anywhere but IF.

I think OTT hasn’t taken off here the way it has abroad. Maybe the rural areas and older population still rely on cable shows. But Kiara for eg worked with KJO in Lust Stories and gained more popularity and then went on to become an know mainstream actor?

Also not all OTT shows are even good. Some are outright cringe but some gems no doubt have come up. The main measure is when Indian shows will start trending globally. This has happened majorly with Korean zombie flicks, Turkish horror movies, German shows like Dark.

It may not amount much today but trend is upward for OTT and downward for theaters. In next 5-10 years, theaters will get dispersed. Most of our entertainment will be online including our social interactions.

Many big banner producers are alos loving to Ott because they understood the trend and future market. Technology is changing our society much faster than we think. Ekta Kapoor who is such a snark businesswoman has already started producing more for OTT.

many people believed Indians won’t have internet so soon but today phone and internet connection in India has reached rural areas as well. India is a big market and smart people and companies will do everything to capture this market. They will dub all good cinema in Hindi or Other indian languages and show it to people. And audience will like it. Bollywood need to reinvent themselves if they want to be in this game.
