Speaking of Hindi reminds me that one time at work, a patient had come in and needed to do a pregnancy ultrasound. She could only speak Hindi and did not understand English.

Front desk was trying to tell her that the US will be $120 dollars and she has to pay. The poor lady kept shaking her head so they summoned me reluctantly to try talking to her. I came to her with a full disclaimer

Me: Hi *clears throat* meri hindi itni achi nahin hai

Patient: Starts speaking fast in excitement

Me: Okay, um ye joh test hai. Ye apki baby keliye hai.

Patient: Nods head in awareness

Me: Toh TUMHE PAISE DENE HOGE 🤣🤣
