Kedarnath had actually been a turning point as far as his interviews are concerned. if I don't include his feelings(as per the director) during the film , his interview journey was in two phases in my opinion. One being intial stages when sara and Sushant looked extremely comfortable and given equal importance. The ones with siddhanrth kannan, mallishka, zoom and few others were where he looked normal. Though tired but then he has always been insomniac so it shouldn't be linked with depression. Raabta had tanked and other movies like takadhum got shelved so he probably wasn't keeping much expectations and kinnda accepted that sara was going to be the talk of town for her debut. He even had said please watch her movie in one of the interviews and didn't sound sarcastic one bit.
But in later phase, with more formal interviews on news channels and with renowned interviewers he was not only made feel ignored but was also ridiculed on his face. In goodtimes interview the lady who was interviewing called him professor sahab and he was taken a back for a second there. Sara and that lady were laughing constantly , at him or not, no idea but it looked disrespectful and then eventually he finally asked if he was not making any sense, and that broke my heart honestly.
Then the one where he was interviewed by faridoon after kedarnath success , he felt so detached from the movie and though with all humility he did acknowledge and thanked audiance for liking the film, it didn't reach his eyes and that was one interview which felt he would break down any minute just be the way he was talking. That was the last interview I saw him trying to express himself and his point. I am not saying he stopped interacting or enjoying his interviews because it wasn't like that since the ones with manoj Bajpai, he was quite fun , but he stopped articulating and started answering to the point.
And by the time chichore was out, he just wouldn't talk much in interviews. He let others talk unless untill he was asked anything and that too he wouldn't speak much.
Though the chichore gang had said time and again that they would party at his home .. he wasn't sad-sad per say but probably he stopped expressing himself in interviews.
You know , exactly this one. There was this interview with Siddarth Kanan, where on being asked some questions, everytime he answered, Sara will give that appreciative glance and then look at Kanan "giving that you see he is intelligent" looks. However in the later parts, he was mostly made fun of, on his every answer. Infact in this interview, the interviewer kept on sharing those mocking glances with Sara and then they laughed. Sushant was extremely embarrassed on being called professor on then kind of accepted he is not being understood, AS USUAL. That interview and then followed by many more, where he just sat without being part of the conversation mostly.
With Manoj there was a different thing altogether. Manoj would let him talk first and give him those looks which kind of gave him a go ahead signal. He would try to understand him sincerely and thats where he looked supremely comfortable with him . Even for that matter, his Chichore team including Shradha was very appreciative about him , he was comfortable sitting with them , but did not want to get into that answering questions and not being understood loop again.
And to think we celebrated Sara's intelligence, when she was giving those answers sitting beside him.
Deviating from the topic, this one shows, if not cornered or not been given "hey you are not making any sense" looks, Sushant could be extremely witty. I had really liked his answers in this one then. I am so sad he was not appreciated for Sonichidiya , while Bhumi was ..and both of them including Manoj and Ranveer were brilliant in that one.
