@Red Just because you pointed out the benefits of melanin afterwards doesn't mean what you were implying before was correct. That's equivalent to saying that "I can't be colorist because I have a dark skinned friend." I'm not sure you fully understand the significance of colorism in history my dear. For example,

If you go back in history, these terms were coined to describe the discrimination people faced due to the DARKER COLOR of their skin. This is literally from an online definition source and also in history that colorism " is the belief that someone with any degree of lighter complexion is considered to be more beautiful or valuable than someone with dark skin."

Let's not do this reverse "oh, but fair skin people also face this" psychology. Fair skin is STILL considered the standard of beauty in most parts of the world. So your points are filled with a bunch of contradictions and misinformation.

But there is definitely also an underlying bias people have that fair skinned heroines are supposed to look better without makeup than others. Like Deepika's makeup free pics were posted a lot on the forum to call her as ugly although she looks great without makeup too, that is definitely wrong and people probably don't realize it and it happens unconsciously that they tend to favor fairer skinned people because of the conditioning by society that fair is supposed to be the "only" beautiful.
