People are hypocrites , I have read on same forums how few say movie's like Kabir singh doesn't decide how people behave in real life and on now are offended with movies like this.

So why not call out those movies who glorify terrorists, gunda and not so law abiding citizens.

What happened in tuticorin is something one needs to call out but stop appropriating everything to movies as per convience.

In simba those killed are rapists, something similar to Hyderabad encounter which was celebrated because we all know the loopholes, so yes what's wrong is appropriating undue importance to movies and than being offended for no real reason as per convience

Sorry, I am not in this witch hunting of one of the most under paid, under appreciated duties and thankless job in the world. Especially not from those who have excuses and justification for the terrorists.

I think the issue some have is not with the glorification of police force, but how movies like Simmba justify the extrajudicial killings perpetrated by the cops. Of course movies always depict that the person killed was a heinous criminal and thus the cop was 100% right and basically his illegal actions are justified. But reality is that police can misuse their power, they are not always right, sometimes the suspect might actually be innocent or for a crime like stealing, the accused gets beaten up severely because some cops can be assholes and no one bothers to keep them under check. Even sometimes when suspects land up in hospitals after ~interrogation~ we turn a blind eye because public believes that police need to use their danda to get them to confess. How many are true confessions, how many lie to get the torture to stop, no one knows, but movies usually show one side and that has contributed to the apathy we have when we see human rights being violated of those in custody.

But that shouldn't stop us from discussing how brazenly films like Singham and Simmba glorify and romanticize police brutality in the name of entertainment.

What's really worse is Ranveer posting it when the whole country is disturbed with the gory, grotesque details coming out of this incident, which films like these have enabled and emboldened.

Just like you wouldn't have posted a happy post when someone just died, you should read the room and understand the sentiment before posting something like this.

I know fans wouldn't like or understand this (fans like Zara, Gauharageous, etc. are versions of me 5-7 years ago - I have been there and would have defended this then, if my favourite actor were doing it). But I implore them to do a deep introspection and call out their favourites for exhibiting problematic behaviour. It is okay to do that and still love their work.

@Bold: What whole country? You are not the whole country? A lot of people may have still been unaware of it..For ex,.A lot of my North Indian friends have no clue about this.. For all we know, he may not have even seen the news or kept up with it in the last 24 hours...And this post may have been put up by his team...I mean, not everybody is supposed to be on the top of the breaking news 24/7? Actors are people too...This is the kind of unnecessary pressure is what taking people to their early grave...

EDIT: I just opened 3 of the leading Indian News paper links to see if they have headlines on this news...None of them have it in the top news...I know a lot of people who don’t update themselves with the news...He and a lot of the other actors may be one of them...What is this demand that they all need to know about everything that is going on and react exactly the way you expect them to?

Brilliantly put, especially @ bold.

Whenever an incident like this happens I think most people just want the culprits to be punished ASAP. Whereas the Baizou crowd are more interested in the next celeb that can be "cancelled" through their shrill, cacophonous outrage. It's an important distinction that must be made.

We should rather concentrate on keep the topic going and getting those disgusting police officers punished by law.instead of derailing it to what some celebrity posted.seriously the issue should not be this trivial what happened was to heinous for all these side outrage now.Focus on the issue keep demanding justice keep sharing the incident as much as u can.

That incident is terrible but some people here generalize whole police force and try to put them down. Trivialize the whole issue to feed their egos on online forums

.

Here in my place whole police station got crona virus protecting people and keeping the law. Wthout hurting people and helping them.

That being said, i see news daily and didn't see this incident aired at all. So i can't blame ranveer for not knowing it.

I don't think there is anything tone deaf about his post, he was just talking about it's re-release in Australia. 🤔

But yeah, if people want to get offended, go ahead.

Its same here on IF. Everybody gets offended.
