Fun fact: NO ONE DID!

Everyone has only had thanked the police and essential workers CONTINUOUSLY during the lockdown. If the police weren't respected, this would be a lawless country. It is the failed system that doesn't respect police otherwise they and doctors should've been earning more than everyone else during this pandemic or otherwise.

The hue and cry is over the corrupt cops not the job of policemen. Just because there's a majority of good policemen doesn't mean we don't raise our voice against the minority of those who are bad and not say a word against policemen sodomizing and killing people and leaving them dying after profusely bleeding from their rectum for what? Not following curfew rules and keeping their mobile shop open amidst lockdown?

And let's be frank this is not the first police brutality we have seen in the lockdown, this might be of very high level but we have seen the police beating female doctors in Hyderabad with lathi for going out for duty in Telengana, cops tying the hands of the doctor who complained about shortage of N-95 masks in hospitals in Vishakhapatnam, stripping him shirtless and dragging on the road, cops over turning vegetable carts and ruining fresh vegetables being sold by poor vendors during lockdown over the country, man dying in Howrah, Bengal after cops thrashing him for going out to buy milk and several other incidents that we have all seen videos of throughout the lockdown.

So just because there's a good side of cops selflessly doing their work, doesn't mean that we should not raise voice against the corrupt. And no that doesn't mean those raising their voices are forgetting about the good cops. Because this is not the time to praise the good cops but only the time to out the bad cops.

The dark sinister side is not the normal side though that you are trying to insinuate here...99% of the Police are duty bound and are the reason most of the world is still thriving!

Kuch bhi. The policemen in Article 15 and even Ranveer's Simmba extorting people for money are more representative of majority of the police.😆

Kuch bhi.😆 ...regardless of anything, the fact is they are still duty bound when the situation demands...The fact that the world is still thriving is enough of a proof...

What's the source for this? Because police force is the most corrupt one. And that doesn't add up with what you're saying.

Like I said, regardless of how corrupt- can you completely deny that they are the reason the world is still thriving? Bash the bad ones but bashing the entire institution will never be supported, if you are looking to create an awareness!

Police asking shopkeepers for bribes to keep their shops open is not a one off incident. In Mumbai, for instance, police actively seeks bribes from restaurants to stay open at night, despite it being permissible as per court. Bribery and Extortion are a part of police job descriptions in India. Do they ever do verifications without asking money? Never heard a story where the traffic police doesn't actively ask for a bribe instead of issuing Chaalans.

Heck, have been once harrased by a police officer at night for a nonsense made up voilation and had to pay him a bribe. Then he proceeded to give me a ticket, so I can show that to any other police officer that stops me. It's a proper racket.

My experiences are limited to bribery. But to believe that police doesn't actively harass the poor in this country is a joke in itself.
