I had no idea. Still they should have recognised or nominated him in some other category(breakthrough performance or something like that). Award shows nowadays have n number of random categories anyways😆. Also, the music of the movie was so good still it was sidelined

When there is best actor category, then which other category was needed for him to get nominated?😃He is a very underrated actor indeed, but should get his due. The energy level that was dedicated by him for Laila Majnu movie was breakthrough.⭐️

I have not seen any of his movies, but I've seen this scene of his from Laila Majnu where he breaks down in the forest (i think) and I thought that was some of the most intense and realistic crying I've seen from a mainstream BW hero in a long time.

I really wanna watch Laila Majnu ASAP!!

I finally watched Laila Majnu. Just finished the movie and came rushing here first thing.

AVINASH TIWARY YOU ARE A STAR! He was so freaking amazing. He lived the character, especially in the last half an hour or so when his depression reaches its peak and he starts to hallucinate Laila everywhere, acting like a "mad man". This was out & out his film, and he totally deserved an award (if not an honourable mention at least for his performance).

Tripti Dimri complemented Avinash well. She acted well for a debutante, though it wasn't as flawless as Avinash's performance. Nonetheless, the best thing about her is that she was confident and had screen presence. These two together made it a believable, intense and beautiful love story. Also, both of them had good chemistry.

This was definitely one of Imtiaz's better scripts. Of course, major credit has to go to the director who was able to execute the script well (which Imtiaz wasn't able to do as a director in a lot of his other films). The story flowed really well, and love the way they divided the film into 2 halves; Laila and Majnu. That was smart!

These two deserve more roles. Going to watch Bulbul next. Heard both of them are in it.

I just saw Bulbbul and boy, these two (Tripti & Avinash) have totally found a fan in me.

Not only do they have such amazing chemistry together, they are both such BRILLIANT actors. I feel like this movie really brought out their chemistry (even more than Laila Majnu).. it was so understated, so soft, so silent yet so powerful at the same time. I hope they'll collaborate again.

I am just so blown away by Tripti's performance in Bulbbul. It's easily some of the finest acting I've seen from a female lead in BW in a long time.. and Avinash, though he was more of a supporting actor, the subtlety he brought to his performance here was beautiful.

And what do I say about the movie itself. Flawless, from start to end. The director did such a fine job in sucking you into the characters' world. I was so damn invested throughout, and felt the emotions the characters were feeling.. stunning cinematography and the red colour palette for the night scenes was LOVE.

I hope this encourages more directors/producers to shoot in India because India has such beautiful locations.. I really wanna visit that lake where Satya & Bulbbul spoke.. sigh.

I loved him in Tu Mera Sunday. His was the standout performance in that terribly underrated movie. I haven't seen Laila Majnu, but heard that he was phenomenal in it. I wish, it had released on an OTT platform like Netflix or Prime. I feel smaller films receive much more recognition and appreciation on these platforms, rather than on the big screen. Loved him in Bulbbul too and boy, can he rock a dhoti kurta look. He is one actor to look out for.
