Ranveer Singh should be on the list.
The moment I saw him in BBB, I was a fan. For the longest time I was.
Then I stopped believing his stories.
Him conveniently gate crashing Shanoo's party with Shaad Ali, meeting Arjun Kapoor at parties and doing hi, hello. I don't think any outsider has been able to just land up at parties and make such connections. You just don't have that many mutual friends with insiders, without having done even 1 movie or serial or youtube videos even.
Maybe his dad did not pay for his debut, but he did not just enter the industry, like some other outsider. If he truly were an outsider, he wouldn't have gotten work after Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, looking at his overall performance.
I am not saying he doesn't deserve to be in bollywood, but I have had enough of his fake stories. He should have not made up so many false sob stories. It was the year 2010, people would have eventually figured things out.
SH I'd request you to change the topic name from Nepotism to Star Kids. I think you are obfuscating the debate by your stout refusal to include non family insiders.

Nargis
Nargis was born as Fatima Rashid in Calcutta, Bengal Presidency, British Indian Empire (now Kolkata, West Bengal, India) in a Punjabi Muslim family. Her father Abdul Rashid, formerly Mohanchand Uttamchand ("Mohan Babu"), was originally a wealthy Punjabi Hindu heir from Rawalpindi, Punjab Province who had converted to Islam.[3][1][6][7] Her mother was Jaddanbai, a Hindustani classical music singer and one of the early pioneers of Indian cinema.[8] Nargis' family then moved from Punjab to Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh. She introduced Nargis into the movie culture unfolding in India at the time. Nargis' maternal half-brother, Anwar Hussain (1928–1988), also became a film actor.

Her family has a business 😎
I think it is sad to think that some outsiders lose their compassion and kindness for other outsiders when they become a part of the Bollywood "it " group. One would think they would know what the other is going through or has gone through and wouldn't succumb to looking down upon someone else or disassociating themselves from someone just to look cool. Unfortunately, many do and that's quite sad. Indirectly it just goes back to how toxic Bollywood is.
I find it disturbing how so many Bollywood actors tried taking digs at Sushant's instagram page or his posts just because they were "different." That is disturbing at another level. I never followed Sushant on social media and never knew he was into different things. Instead of appreciating how unique an actor could be, or just letting him be...many found it "cool" to take potshots at his differences just because he didn't fit into the norm. We aren't even talking about high school teenagers here..we are talking about adults behaving worse than teenagers. You have Joaquin Phoenix who comes across as peculiar in Hollywood, and I have personally never witnessed his coactors/peers bringing him down - instead, you hear praises for the work that he does. Meanwhile, you have Bollywood promoting the auntie gossip culture..truly reflecting how desis are outside of Bollywood..which is judgmental and dismissive just because.
By the way, I used to be an Anushka Sharma fan..but over the years, I have seen her trying way too hard to fit into the "cool" group. I still feel her whole persona of being this "cool" chick is somewhat fake and a PR move. I am all for being confident and believing in yourself..but I remember how Anushka wanted to seek validation when she first started. She so badly wanted to fit into the "it" group of Bollywood..work with certain people because that's quite frankly how you keep climbing the ladder. She got plastic surgery on her face for crying out loud...yet, something in her vibes always illustrated this elite behavior once she actually started working with people she always desired to work with..who mind you, even brought her down in the process. She also backtracked a bit in talking about any struggle she ever faced when entering Bollywood..and in doing so I feel she started becoming less genuine.
What is the point in having this entire persona of being "outspoken" and "real" when you barely ever speak of the elephant in the room.
Ranveer is another one..

I loved Anushka until Jab Tak Hai Jaan. After that, around that Matru movie she started changing and even her behavior became arrogant
Ranveer needs to focus on Gully boy and 83 type of movies and stay away, he can still scale it back if he’s smart. I hate seeing him and Deepika all coochy coochy with Ranbir and Alu.
OK, here's my take.. (and oh! thank you for creating this thread).
While the cancer of nepotism is a matter of concern, we cannot sweep every single child of a previous actor (see how I didn't use the term star kid, because we are dealing with Chunky Pandey and Salma Agha as well).
There are those who have risen to glory and fame because of their sheer hard work and perseverance.
Sanjay Dutt
Karishma Kapoor
Aamir Khan
Agreed that not everyone is Sridevi, Madhuri, Juhi, SRK, or Akshay, but there are those who proved themselves worthy of gracing the Hindi cinema, despite hailing from families linked to Bollywood.
