Well written but I respectfully disagree.

yes he took his life and he is at peace but to say that one should move on and wait till another star takes his/her life with the big wigs of Bollywood play the very same power play and politics is not the way I would look at it.

what if it was a DIL who commits a suicide unable to handle the pressures from her in-laws, would the same yardstick apply there as well?

Yes, we don't have the full story yet and we don't know what happened but based on the directors and the artists who have all said that the gatekeepers of Bollywood need to introspect within themselves shouldn't be addressed at all??

why not ?, it's clear he was a victim of ridicule and politics, he was affected by it, whether that played a role in his suicide or not, we do not know but I do know that its high time it's addressed.

This system needs to change and it has to change.

I wouldn't even call them gullible. I would call them vicious. Most of the people outraging right now didn't care about Sushant. For them this tragedy has created a carnival atmosphere for them to push their own agendas. The public anyway wants to bitch about people like KJo and Alia. What's new in that? Now they just found a supposedly honorable reason to hide behind.

Just look at the big celebrity loudmouths - people like Kangana and KRK. Then are the usual whiners like Raveena Tandon (who comes out without fail every single time something bad happens to someone else to hint about her exes Ajay and Akshay) and Shekhar Kapoor whose entire business has become about nostalgia and missed job opportunities. Sushant died and yet what I've heard most is Paani Paani Paani Paani. I've heard more about Paani than films that he actually did because Shekhar Kapoor wants to bitch about not getting to do that film and take his revenge from YRF.

These people are selfish snakes pretending to be custodians of Sushant.

Irony of Paani was YRF fires Hrithik to give it to Sushant

I dunt know the intent of celebs but it’s pretty evident the hate is targeted on cherry picked individuals and not an ideology..

Aliaa isn’t losing followers coz she’s a product of nepotism and ppl are taking a stand, or that she did something to sushanth..it’s because ppl want to hate on her right now

If they cared abt nepo Ananya, jhanvi and Sara’s followers would have dropped as drastically. More so Sara coz she even played along when the media made kedarnath all about her and ignored her co star .
if they cared abt outsiders, Vicky, Kritis, Rajkumar followers would have increased.

I would have agreed with you to let it all aside and move on had Sushant left us all after perhaps facing something like an accident. But, he tragically took his own life and when that happened we cannot ignore the fact that he was living in an extremely toxic environment with unbelievably toxic people who clearly had an agenda to defame and demotivate him.

As someone who was diagnosed with clinical depression last year and was saved in the nick of time from attempting suicide by a phone call from my aunt (my suicide letter and string made from a dupatta were ready), I can tell you that apart from whatever the main severe reason is, the environment in which you reside in or go to work to matters and contributes massively to your depression. Publicly being humiliated, talked about mockingly, made fun of, and laughed at (I faced it all too) aren't fun things. They scar you to a level from where you believe you will never return. An already fragile mind doesn't deserve this. Your self-worth goes for a toss and you actually end up believing everything that they say about you and you land up in a hopeless dark pit where every minute of your existence feels like a painfully slow death. Imagine yourself where things just aren't working the way you want them to, you slip into depression and try to fight back but the world you live in is so against you that it thwarts your every move and does it gleefully.

Do you really believe those who do this to you deserve to get away? Should they not be made to introspect so that a tragedy like Sushant's doesn't repeat again in the future? People have spoken about the toxic culture that exists in Bollywood and how that affected him. Those who knew him well have gone on record to say that he wasn't given what he deserved and instead was hounded by these camps that exist in this industry to further their own or their favorite's career. He hasn't been spared even after his death by the Bhatt family that has been labeling him a crazy man who had stopped thinking rationally a while back.

I am sorry, but questions have to be asked at least now to these entitled morons who believe they have the power to make or break a person and think it is okay to constantly keep shaming people publicly without a care in the world of what impact it may have on their already fragile mental state.

Beautifully written and conveyed. Also happy that you came out of your toughest time and fought through clinical depression.

Thank you for the kind words. Still not completely out of the woods yet and at times when I remember the jibes and mocking it feels like my surroundings are closing in on me and I am being eaten up. That is what it does to a person. The entire world was judging Sushant because of what these people were saying or putting out about him. At a time when he needed compassion, these wolves decided to devour him completely.

We lost a precious, supremely talented, intelligent beyond one's imagination young man. It is time we call those out who enable an environment that pushes one towards it.

Tina it is ok to disagree with an opinion, it is your right to do so and it is positive for any discussion. However I am not sure if you have a reading comprehension block and you did not understand what I wrote or you are simply ignoring and making up your narrative using my post. NOWHERE in my post do I write, that any society needs to wait passively for tragedy to happen, that is tragic in itself. I SAID suicide IS a tragedy no matter WHO commits it.

You are concentrating on celebrities, I am thinking of the entire population. Do you know how many people in India commit suicide EVERY SINGLE DAY young, old, farmers, students etc..? Do you know the age groups? The reasons? Why it is prevalent in the culture? I will not bore you with the details but I will tell you that the numbers are not low and that every single suicide that you never hear about nor are outraged about IS tragic, every unknown common person that succumbs to it leaves behind a trail of questions, and pain for their family. Their lives are just as precious as any celebrities.

In my post I also mention that the only thing that is of any use in a suicide is education or discussion, hopefully attention is highlighted in the need to talk about emotional issues, to quit making them taboo and to proactively start to get people help when needed. Discussion + Education + translates into = prevention. Since you refer to celebrities I will use Deepika Padukone as an example she got a lot of hate and ridicule when she bravely came out and said she suffers from depression, people mocked her, including your idol. She did not commit suicide. She upped the game and created a foundation and is actively trying to shine a light on the need to recognize depression as a very real condition, that happens in varied degrees to everyone. To finish I will reiterate: PEOPLE HAVE CHOICES, in particular the privileged and lucky few who do make it big in show business. Most importantly no matter how toxic you find them, lawfully you cannot blame anyone for other peoples frame of mind, if critique, bad mouthing, hate mongering and speaking against actors in Bollywood was that influential on peoples frame of mind that they would commit suicide, you would have a public figure suicide happen every day, with kangana and rangoli leading the pack of antagonists pushing them to it and they would have a rap sheet a mile long, and life sentences to go with it.

Thank you for your answer on my post, I respectfully request that you re-read it.
