I know this is discussed a lot on this forum a lot. But anyone feel an unusual increase in prevelance? Star kids debuting out of nowhere, getting priveleged opportunities is becoming a lot more noticeable. We still fawn over outsiders who have made it big in the past because its as if there is no hope for outsiders today to succeed in the midst of all these new star kids debuting and working on connections

Nepotism exists, and it's killing the business. Outsiders either have to be insanely well-connected or at the top of their game to succeed.

Look at Sanya Malhotra. She has the acting chops. So does Radhika Madan. But their visibility is less, because they are not getting the plum projects which say, a Jhanvi Kapoor is getting. Gunjan Saxena falling in Jhanvi's lap--- what has she done to deserve such a project? Only Dhahdak, where she was atrocious? Yet it's her last name which is getting her the exposure, and a well-curated career.

There are many more examples like this. I don't see any outsider like Priyanka, Deepika or Kangana succeeding any more. Things have taken a turn for the worse.

However, on the flip side. Here is a simple logic:

If the field is a profit-driven venture, then the inept will be eliminated with time. It can take three or thirty movies, but they will have to vacate the playfield without leaving any mark on the audience or the craft. The user decides the fate of entertainers, and nobody wants to pay for shitty performances religiously.

Abhishek Bachchan, Tushar Kapoor, Uday Chopra, Fardeen Khan, Esha Deol, Mimoh Chakraborty, Asmit Patel, Jacky Bhagnani, Harman Baweja, Bobby Deol, Rajiv Kapoor, Zayed Khan, Shadaab Khan, Tanisha Mukherji, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Roy.

They are sons/daughters of prominent figures in Bollywood that gave them an extra edge to easily grab lead roles in several movies. However, they all disappeared like shooting stars.

What else can star kids do? Sons actor, daughters designers. Can Abhishek Janhvi for example work a normal 8 to 5 job in the office?

You cannot deny it exists and play a big role in Bollywood.

Look at Sushant Singh Rajput, the man gave a bit hit in chichore , yet absolutely no mention of his box office success, it's bcoz the star families PR is much more stronger and the network of connections subdues the outsiders success.
