Is Ranbir's acting skills undermined because he's a STAR?

Ranbir is definitely one of those stars who can really ACT. But I feel at times that just because he's a star, people try to pigeonhole his acting and create stupid categories like man-child ( which is a baseless allegation). He is a far superior actor to any star in his generation. Should we not cherish his talent, instead of looking for ways to undermine it?

One thing I always want to say about Ranbir, that he needs to try out varieties of roles. Till date his noteworthy performances were only in Rockstar and Rocket Singh in my opinion. The rest are all way similar here and there. In Sanju he was strictly okayish but he couldn't show that acting chops which he showed in Rockstar.

Day by day he is losing his charm too. He doesn't look focused like before either. Maybe it's depression or dissatisfaction that he's getting from his personal life I don't know, but he should keep both his personal and professional lives separate. Otherwise Ranbir won't be able to bring back the charm in himself that he used to have.

Not because he's a star. I feel it's cause of their personal dislike for him which automatically transforms into putting him down even as an actor. Not just this forum, even outside I-F I've come across many who are like he just bores me, I hate him, I've never watched a single film of his and in the same breathe they feel he can't act. He's overrated. Mediocre etc. I mean how can you say he's this & that without ever watching his acting? People have already made up a mindset & prejudiced opinion on him for RK. It does feel like who try to discredit his acting talent it comes from their personal vendetta against him & he's indirectly have turned most of the actors fans against him through professional rivalry or personal life.

Ranbir was extraordinary in the film.

He drowns out his own personality so completely in favour of the Baba persona, that in that closing song when he appears as himself – slim, handsome and not looking ravaged like his character – I had to remind myself that this is actually what he looks like.

He delivers a laudable performance, especially in scenes of emotional intensity when the script is not using a farcical tone to soft pedal the hero’s life choices.

Oh I see...so it's his off-screen personality which is the problem? The fact that he's a Casanova in real life? I wonder why we have these strict yardsticks to measure personal life, though. Kangana faces the same problem. I see these 2 gifted performers-Ranbir and Kangana- and then people hating on them, which is so sad.
