It is one thing to say learn self defense, and another to say, learn it so you don't get raped.

FFS Rani is not politically incorrect. Rani is just incorrect. She’s not saying women should learn self defense the way Akshay Kumar advocates for it. She’s putting the onus of it on women to prevent rapes. That’s why everyone is angry with her. And she’s raising future generations with that mind set. Her suggestions are just one or two steps away from saying women shouldn’t wear jeans or short skirts to prevent rape.

I don’t know what a practical and immediate solution is to this problem. But it sure as hell isn't victim blaming. Or how women should carry condoms so they can live. I mean, is this practical enough? Because I’m sure both Nirabhaya and Dr. Reddy’s family would give anything to have their daughters alive today?

@ red....u are mixing up everything and literally assuming things now....What Rani has said has nothing to do with what these idiots are saying...they are still suggesting that the girl should get raped but try to come out alive of it....while Rani is saying how to avoid getting raped in the first place.....of course her soultion may not save everyone but maybe a few.

and of course Dr Reddy and Nirbhaya's parents would want them alive anyhow....which family wouldn't so don't even try to use their sentiments to prove a point.....we cannot even start to imagine their plight...so let us have that much respect for them to not link their sentiments with those idiotic suggestions.

There is nothing wrong in saying "learn self defense", but Rani's whole argument during the roundtable about metoo was that, these sexual harassment happen because girls don't know how to protect them.

Metoo is movement about people talking about all kinds of sexual harassment they had been through, which includes rape. She was basically putting all onus on the victim. i think here with Anupama she’s better than she was last year. It’s valid when says she trying to fight an attacker is more effective than trying to change the attackers mindset/perspective. Up until the society becomes a better you need to defend yourself. But those glasses need to go 😆
