No. Venturing out to Hollywood helped her to maintain popularity. She would have been sidelined for the most part if she stayed in BW .

No of course not. It was one of the best decision she took. It made her more popular and brought her more fame. She didn’t have much left to do in BW.

Exactly...BW is not for women...they have limited shelf life....whereas in HW even 60+ actresses have roles written especially for them....so she did the right thing.

And "KJO gang" meaning Dharma Productions? She done 2 films with the before 2015. Post-2015, looking at their list of films, I don't see any role she could have done as all the heroines they cast were the younger lot: Alia Bhatt (Kapoor & Sons, Dear Zindagi, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, Raazi, Kalank), Shraddha Kapoor (OK Jaanu), Parineeti Chopra (Kesari), Sonakshi Sinha (Itteefaq, Kalank), Janhvi Kapoor (Dhadak, Gunjan Saxena), Sara Ali Khan (Simmba), Kiara ADvani (Good Newwz, Shershaah). I suppose Good Newwz has Kareena Kapoor in it, but is that enough to justify being "sidelined"?

I think PC felt 'forced' to leave BW because of certain.. situations.. and maybe because certain.. influential people were putting pressure on directors not to cast her.

And at the same time she was eyeing the US market, hopping to get a big break.

Maybe she was ... made to feel that it would be a better choice if she went to US and left the past behind.. or she even felt.. ostracised by ..some studios..or biggies.

I think it's more complex than what we know.

Sure thing is... she was only somewhat famous in there and 'flavor of the month'. Yes, it gave her a big exposure to American audiences.. just that her show wasn't THAT special and original - which is a pity cause she is a good actress.

if she had something like Sacred Games.. or a movie like dunno//'Life of Pi'.. maybe her impact would have been greater and her offers far better and far more..impactful

I am not criticising her, only she knows how constrained she felt.. or what promises were made to her. Maybe it was: go to US and I'll make sure u get into some big series as lead.. you'll get a ton of movies and get more recognition.

Sadly she got given not so great roles,.

All in all I think BW moneyspinners and ./.influencers made her leave and it's a pity, as she is better than most actresses in BW.

(of course, this is just my opinion, from what I've read and heard. But I still think BW should have kept her and given her roles that sadly went to a few undeserving actresses.

I think she could have done a great 'Manikarnika' type heroine. or a great action heroine.. she should have had some tent pole movies going.. Only her and Vidya .. are from the 'younger' lot - under 40- that are rlly good actresses)

I am not going to quote each movie you've mentioned, but I bet that if those roles were changed to accomodate PC - as in bigger, better shaped (like Alia's roles are made to fit her 'style')- .. or just if they gave PC free reign into bringing those characters to life.. she'd be ruling BW right now.

The heroines cast were the ones BW wanted to promote (or the only options when PC, DP, KAT were not available/considered not 'suitable'). I like Alia, Shaddrah but PC would have made a much better lead in any of their roles.

She is much, much better than all those girls u mentioned above.. IMO.

I think you missed the point. By your logic: Madhuri is better than Alia and Shraddha so she would bring more to the roles in OK Jaanu and Raazi. Sadly, Mahduri does not fit the age criteria for those films. Same goes for PC.

I know Priyanka is far more talented than at least 90% of those girls but Bollywood is not making enough films for women her age.

The point I was making was: Priyanka wasn't sidelined by Karan Johar's "gang" - because even if she concentrated on Hindi cinema, she would not have been considered for the films they were producing in the last 4 years.

I just feel there's no one talented enough in the under 30 category.. heck even in the 30 to 40 I see only a few that are talented enough. (I am talking about those promoted as SO great and talented.. IMHO they are mediocre at best.. but I stop because their fans might take it wrongly)

I KNOW there must be talented actresses with a lot of charisma trying to break through.. but sadly BW runs on other ... criteria and most roles go to nepo kids.

Ahh.. they rlly should do auditions.. they lose big time on actual talent.
