I was diagnosed with endometriosis. I was put on the birth-control pill to restore fertility and whatnot. But it’s a hard condition and I felt like I was never really given the full picture, which I think happens a lot, especially when you’re just given these quick-fix “band-aids” for larger problems. For me, it was time to get off the birth-control pill, which wreaked havoc on my skin, hair, and moods for a couple of months. I’m a big research person. That’s one of my favorite things. If I weren’t an actress, I feel like I would do really well in investigational research. So during my research phase, I wanted to try everything natural for my body. I wanted to get to know my body again in my own way. And Alisa Vitti book was very crucial in that journey.

I feel like with gynecology especially, it’s been a very male-driven field. How does someone who has never had a period in their life empathize fully? This is not me going against male gynecologists, but this is me really saying, if you’ve never had a period in your life, how do you know what it is? When I read this book, I felt like, oh holy hell, things I haven’t been told! I think one of the most brilliant things I read in this book is about the various phases of your menstruation cycle. It’s no longer, “Oh, I’m PMSing.” I don’t even use that term anymore. I just say, “I’m in the luteal phase.”

My parents thought i was gonna be a gynecologist ..😆.. It was only later that i realized most famous / syccessful gynecologists are actually men ..i wonder y .. 🤔.. It can't be sexism or patriarchy this time because sexism or patriarchy would have made women rule this field ( like modeling industry / explicit adult film industry ) .. So there must be something more to it .. Same goes for most famous chefs in the world , y arent women ruling the cooking industry ? .. 🤔

The PMS occurs in the luteal phase. Unlike the luteal phase, 'PMS' is a health concern. Alisa Vitti uses the so-called detox (It is a bunch of pseudoscientific bs just like alkalizing our body) for marketing, and she does a lot of 'appeal to nature' claims - so not so credible. Jen Gunter's: The Vagina Bible is currently the best book for understanding women's health. It also addresses the misinformation and myths with the help of evidence-based studies.

Anecdotal experiences don't need for professions, especially medicine. You don't need to - have any type of cancer to become an oncologist, have children to become a paediatrician, be a mother or even women to become an expert ob-gyn or have a mental illness to become a psychiatrist.

PS: For mothers, SciMoms is one of the best sources for info and for general medicine SciBasedMed.

while I agree that natural therapy is mostly the best way then popping pills.... her analogy between male gynaecs and period is wrong........ that will mean no Cancer specialist can treat a cancer patient, cause they themselves haven't contracted the disease, same with other diseases like HIV and neurological issues.....

I dont have deep info about endometriosis but most hormonal diseases can be cured by having a proper diet and working out regularly, and it's better to go for allopathic medicine, only if all these fail.....
