Are Ranveer and Varun really competition to Ranbir?

Ranbir Kapoor is a pretty versatile actor, and a very fine one at that. He really knows how to dig deep into a character's consciousness and get under the skin of the character.

I am not talking about star power, but acting. Any year in which Ranbir Kapoor has even a half-way decent film(like Sanju) he walks away with all the accolades. No matter how fine Ranveer was in Padmaavat or Varun was in October, they didn't stand a chance against him. I feel it will be the same in future, because Ranbir is a notch above them in acting. It's a different thing if he is able to sustain his stardom, because after Besharam, let's be frank, things were not the same for him in that aspect.

Ranveer can give a solid takkar to him in terms of stardom, but in acting I feel he is way behind. He tends to ham a lot(apart from Gullyboy-which was his finest performance till date) but in other movies, he is not able to emote as powerfully as Ranbir. That's just my opinion, of course.

Do you guys agree?

I don't agree. Not sure about Varun but Ranveer is more versatile actor since he has done different roles in most of his movies . While Ranbir is more or less same and when he try something new or backfires like Bombay velvet. No doubt he is great actor but Ranveer is as good. Loved Ranbir in saawariya, wake up sid, barfi, rajneeti and rockstar. But his role in other movies are more or less same. Ranveer has more diverse roles in his credits from BBB, LvsR, Lutera, bajirao, padmavati, raamleela, gullyboy, simba etc. Meanwhile in gundey, kill dil , DDD he was more and less same. he is more like a mainstream actor.

Not really, because Ranveer didn't really get a 300 crore blockbuster like Sanju where he was the sole and primary reason for its huge success.

Yeah right. Bebo is a good actress who does not ham Ranveeris a bad actor who ham according to some people.

As much as I dont like ranbir but its true he is a really good actor and I dont think these two are any close to him

I agree Ranveer is better in mainstream roles and maybe even has a better filmography ( debatable though) but Ranbir is a better actor.

He is one of the few actors who have mastered the skill of subtle acting and not the loud in-your-face kind of expressions or dialogue delivery. No other actor looks as good as him in close-up shots. The way he emotes is sheer perfection in lengthy close angle shots, with or without dialogues.

His screen presence is very dynamic. As per the need of the scene, he could stand apart in a crowd of hundreds and when required he could be totally not-in-focus with just handful of people.

He is not entirely a director's actor. He brings his only sensitivities and sensibilities to the character which is a double edged sword. Sometimes you need to trust the director 100% and just follow his visions on shaping the character. He did that in Bombay Velvet but unfortunately the film tanked.

On the other hand, Ranveer's acting can never be categorized as subtle. His does a lil over the top performance in most of his roles. His actions, expressions are more exaggerated than what can be tagged as a ‘natural performance’. Unlike what I mentioned in Ranbir's pro, i personally don't think Ranveer's close ups are as appealing. His looks good in full or far angle shot as he uses his body, posture and actions better than a full blown close up shot.
