He is one of the few actors who have mastered the skill of subtle acting and not the loud in-your-face kind of expressions or dialogue delivery. No other actor looks as good as him in close-up shots. The way he emotes is sheer perfection in lengthy close angle shots, with or without dialogues.

His screen presence is very dynamic. As per the need of the scene, he could stand apart in a crowd of hundreds and when required he could be totally not-in-focus with just handful of people.

He is not entirely a director's actor. He brings his only sensitivities and sensibilities to the character which is a double edged sword. Sometimes you need to trust the director 100% and just follow his visions on shaping the character. He did that in Bombay Velvet but unfortunately the film tanked.

What work for ranbeer is his looks and expressions. But his movie choices are not at all good for bringing the best of him. Like seriously what he was doing in movie Roy is still ???? . Ranveer has the subtleties of emotions in his expressions too in the character he played. I would like to see them both in the reverse type of roles they play. Like ranbeer as khilji and ranveer as in tamasha and Rockstar and also rocketsingh and I am sure ranveer will impress again but not sure ranbeer as khilji , how would he look ??? I will wait for shameshara and bramhastra for deciding that. Nonetheless both are very good actors.

I disagree; Ranbir’s acting has always been overrated but he had the backup of the whole industry and little to no competition until Ranveer and Varun came into the picture. I have never connected with any of Ranbir’s characters.

Not sure where is this anti Ranveer campaign coming from, but I am pretty sure you’d think differently if you didn’t judge him based on his extroverted off screen persona. You can be extroverted and annoying off screen but still be a good actor you know. He was brilliant in his first movie BBB (he took the industry by storm with one movie then, I still remember the reviews) and has never given a mediocre performance since then. I don’t think he was ever/often blasted by critics for his acting.

To each their own but Ranveer’s existence is definitely making A LOT of people uncomfortable on IF, while he keeps on getting the best scripts, working with the best directors, competing with the khans on the BO and getting the most lucrative deals.

I dont think so... Rk is acting power house... Even in bad movies it's weak script that lets him down... His acting always shines. Even in his worst like BEH he was very good. About his best barfi, bunny, sanju, ved, Jordan, samar... Non of his contemporary could have played barfi with that much innocence, Or bunny with that charm, ved with that vulnerablity, jorden with that passion, samar with that cunningness.

And i dont get how this forum keeps on saying that he plays man child only... Barfi was mute guy with heart of gold... Bunny was highly career driven person, ved was going through physiological issues, Jordan was person who lived his art...

This is the first time someone describes RK as a versatile actor

The guy by his own admition is repetitive in his role selection

He has a safe space (characters) he can't let go off

As you mentioned Sanju/Khilji

The year RK did Tamasha Ranveer won every award for Bajirao

So that's for that 😎

Ranbir is a good actor but the characters he plays are too similiar. Ranveer can deliver in a variety of roles, just look at his last 3 movies.

I read this somewhere "His choice of roles lack versatility. Almost all his good performances are the same kind of lost-boy-finding-his-true-self. Only hatke movie worth appreciation was Rocket Singh.

Most of characters look and feel - be it wake up sid, YJHD, ADHM. Seems like hedoesn't believe in bringing out different characteristics - physical or emotional - for different characters. They look, feel and react almost the same in most of his movies."

But i don't agree. I feel he has mastered the art of getting under each character's skin and giving each character a different twist. Look at Rockstar, Barfi, Tamasha and Sanju. Such different characters. But he has brought his own sensitivity to each character.

He does try to give each character a different twist but overall they are still too similiar imho & most people don't look deeper anyway. I hope his next two movies have more variety here.

I think Ranbir is actually better than Ranveer who can be too OTT at times but the latter also doesn't seem to be limited and can do lots of different roles. That's very beneficial for him, especially in the long run.

And while Sanju was a blockbuster, Ranbir's overall career has declined since YJHD (lots of flops) sadly so these days Ranveer is more popular (has yet to decline like that).
