I want to gauge your opinions as viewers of Hindi Cinema.

In my opinion, it is essential that cinema has the perfect balance of content and mainstream elements. The box office performance (determined by star power, acting talent, direction and narrative style) is a by product but the impression that a film leaves behind, years after its release, is what matters the most.

IMHO, it was a failed attempt at content meets mainstream. The writer and director failed at executing anything well meaning.

I think most of the top actors like Salman SRK don't want to do content driven movies. They are too lazy and too busy. They keep doing crappy movies that don't require preparation/reshoot/retake. Basically, they play themselves onscreen. We would get to see some great entertaining movies.

Amir is doing a great job. New gen actors like Ranveer/Ranbir/Ayushman are balancing their roles well.

Both...

while content films do not need a star or commodity to sell, the commercial films need entertainment, stars, songs, dance etc to make their ways into the audiences..both can work and both can fail as well !

but personally, the way bollywood is now going - I would choose content cinemas, look at the ratio of the success of the small budgets to high budget mainstream entertainers, the gap is becoming wide and wider. Badhai ho, andhadhun, the tashkent files URI they r making big waves against the masala genre. If they work on big entertainers to be joyful enough then it may work on both the sides but as of now, the smaller films r clearly winning

You didn't seem to understand my question. I asked which do you prefer. I am not talking about actors, but the audience.

My point is i prefer a balance but they are not doing it and we end up watching so called mainstream craps.

Content cinema done with good amount of entertainment is what bollywood needs. No offence, but if movie puts majority of people to sleep isn't gud in my opinion. A movie should be perfectly balanced. We cant expect people who struggle day to day to enjoy boring movies which are hailed as best. Make content movies with right dose of enjoyment

After arguing for content movies for the last few years and now wanting to watch Saaho and Hritik&Tiger’s movie, I feel our minds are also not consistent. It sometimes want content. Sometimes wants nonsense. We will balance it out by watching one content movie with two nonsense movies. (Movie makers do not have to adjust to our taste. Let them do what they are good at. We will pick them according to our mood).
