Ayan Mukerjee:The truth is that I first approached Deepika Padukone. I'd met her for dinner and told her I was writing a film and that she'd be apt for the role. But yes, there was a time after that when I was interested in Katrina. I saw something in her. There were several other actresses we met too. All of them are my friends. So I discussed my film with a bunch of women. The stars were shinning on me when Deepika agreed because of all the people in the film, her contribution and commitment was the deepest. She holds her own against Ranbir. People fell in love with Shah Rukh Khan in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge because of Kajol, because of the way she falls in love with him. It's the same with Ranbir. You love him because of Deepika.

This Filmfare interview was done after the release of YJHD.He gave the credit for the success of YJHD to DP..He was right.DP's career soared after YJHD..and RK's..well we all know.

Yeah. She was Ayan's choice for YJHD. According to rumours she rejected the role because when the movie was offered to her RanKat were broken up and she did not want to work with Ranbir. And Ranbir was lobbying for DP. 😆

It's kinda embarrassing how she is admitting it, at least pretend you worked for it. But she and Karan know they can get away with it, so they rub it in people's faces.

Anyways, good luck to others who get where they are through talent and hard work. It's more long lasting.

Well good luck to Ayaan then 😆, coz if not anyone else Abhi Verman toh gaya lag raha hai, I cant help but think/say that if Kalank had any literally any other actress other than Alia it wouldnt have been this much of a trainwreck as this level of creative interference & favouritism wouldnt have been done by Kjo for anyone else.

Arrey.. I did say na according to rumours kat is the first choice for YJHD. Masand wrote a blind about the casting way before the movie released.

Eta: DP said in some interview that when she got outed of D3 it was RK who came to her rescue with YJHD.

Maine apne friend se bola ki mujhe apni big budget trilogy me cast karr lo aur usne karr liya. Matlab kuchh bhi. No one will cast their friends like this. Alia is not the first one to have filmmaker friends and requested them to cast him/her in their movies.
