I think the coloring was bad. Even in the bts shots you can see it. Also the color palette of the movie is kinda sepia toned bordering on the reddish.

You didn't have to lol her previous work has been mentioned in the article:

Nakai has been part of multiple Dharma Production films like Student Of The Year, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, 2 States and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

I can't believe that Karan is dumb enough to hire someone like her for designing the sets of a period film 😆😆

Nah I actually wanted to because I thought that cant be her only legit credits since Kalank has been given to her. Turns out thats 99 percent of it 😆 She has Namesake though. Surprisingly pleasant discovery.

And honestly if you really think about it, Karan was being totally Karan. Giving assignments to people just because he likes them 😆 Talent and whether they deserve it or not is secondary

Bajirao Mastani also has its share in being not true to the history//time, just like every other period drama.

"Heere me heera ho to use kehte hain Kohinoor. Rao ka naam lete hi Kashi ke chehre pe aata hai noorHeere me heera ho to use kehte hain Kohinoor. Rao ka naam lete hi Kashi ke chehre pe aata hai noor"

The diamond was named Kohinoor in 1739, but in film the timeframe she says this dialogue is 1734-1735.

SLB has been historically wrong plenty of times. But one cant fault his research team when it comes to art design.

totally agree...he was wrong in showing Kashibai dancing that too with Mastani... but the sets were authentic... that much guarantee was there

Why are people writing wrong facts here. Everyone knows that the film is based in Heera Mandi which is in Pakistan, then from where dis Delhi come into the picture.

Here is what the set designer said-

The set showcases Hira Mandi the famous market of Lahore in all its glory. Amrita shares, "Our set of Hira Mandi is a rather fantastical version of Lahore in the 1940s, though we have retained the essence of the city as it was back then. We used a little bit of imagination and borrowed architecture from across the globe.

Hopefully this will clear all your doubts.The film is fiction, obviously they can take some liberty.

OT- the sets looks really good, I hope all their hardwork pays off!!

So basically Amrita and team made a mix match of Old Delhi+ Old Lahore + "global architecture" + "fantasy" and called it partition era. Oh god 😆 Isse achha is set pe Indian version of Lord of the Rings e bana dete.
