And I felt so bad for Kiara that day, Alia wasn't supposed to attend that song launch but I don't what happened at last moment she suddenly decided to show up there. It was Kiara's song and people even appreciated her, but she wasn't even given a chance to be in limelight. Actually it was Varun who had asked her to do that role, It was not Karan's idea. Makes sense why she was treated like that.

Not only did Kiara get a lot of praise for her small segment but I saw a lot of "she should have gotten Alia's role' comments too. Maybe that got to her. These things are always preplanned weeks in advance. She must have some clout at Dharma if she was able to push Kiara aside like that at the last minute.

I agree. He will not allow the movie to get anything less than a hit tag. This was discussed in another tread as well. He can very easily sell the movie to distributors very cheap that way it won't matter how high the budget is the movie can be called a superhit by just crossing the 100cr mark.
