I think the script has the 70s or 80s feel to it because it was conceptualized by Yash Johar.

It's also the same old Hindu/Muslim story which we've seen a 1000 times before and was prevalent during that era. The only difference between this and those films is that it's made on a much grander scale.

Hence, the film's script seems mediocre compared to present standards.

The fact that Karan directed this film through Whatsapp, has included songs like 'First Class' which may have not been a term used for the period its set and made Madhuri stand like a statue in a dance song shows he hasn't though things through very well. Also isn't Kalank a fictional script so the pressure to see it through with a large starcast is going to be his acid test.

Also it ties in with what that 'catty actress' said a week or two ago about Varun Alia having the meatiest roles..

Panipat is a slice of history film so unless Gowariker is doing something completely different or rewriting history I don't get how the script could be mediocre..his treatment of the film and his direction yes but i doubt its the script here.

Kalank makes sense because of him saying many careers are involved. If the movie flops it will affect almost all the cast except for Sanju maybe. Yes Adi and Sonakshi will be affected. It's another flop on the list of their flops. It will affect Alia and Varun too because people can take it as they cannot do period movies or shouldn't be trusted with big budgets. Not to mention Abhishek Varman. The only part that makes me think it might not be Kalank is saying recently announced. Kalank was announced almost two years ago (a year before this tweet) when the cast was to have Sridevi.

Other possibility is Shamshera. It does have a big budget and it will affect Ranbir Vaani and Karan Malhotra's careers.

I feel like Panipat wasn't announced too long before it went into production so I don't think it's that one.
