@bold: THIS. So freaking true. She literally has no competition from her contemporaries, ex: Pari, Shraddha. If there was real competition between her contemporaries, with everyone getting equal opportunities to showcase their talent, wonder where Aloo baby would stand 😆.

exactly! I dont get how people actually think its ok to compare her to other actresses. I just cant refer to her as a star because of this.
If her contemporaries are getting similar work and opportunities and if alia still overrides them performance wise, than Ok. but they don't get the same work. I am still waiting to see her contemporaries in the right films. and please this has nothing to do with their choices and all that crap.
how is her ability to outperform others determined if equal opportunties are not given? and how am I able to classify an actress who is up one level of her contemporaries a star just b/c she gets better roles?

huge proof to this..is alia being compared already to priyanka, kareena, and deepika, they have been in the industry for years

@bold@ completely agree.
@red: exactly. We cannot gauge same success unless other actresses getb similars 'star-driven' 'character-driven' roles and movies and are promoted as heavily as she is.

I mean look at KJo- he even poromotes 'couple' Alia and RK at a Wedding !
..that is how much he is intent in making Alia (and RK) be the BIG league, the Top Dogs.
He's been shamelessly doing that everywhere for years.. Any chance he gets.

Until I see another actress promoted, helped, pushed and supported with good roles and movies.. I cannot really compare.

Looks wise she also looks okay..like a very young girl.. but not..'exciting' if you want.
As an actress she is competent, but not 'exciting' either.
She is well liked because her promotion,PR, family money and all that jazz push her constantly and create this 'benign' image of her beign sweet and goodie- not saying she's outright a bad person..just not the 'angel' she's portrayed..I am sure she did a lot of bad/silly stuff that was covered up fast.
And her movie choices- always chosen by KJo and team.. so no.. she isn't choosing herself. That's part of the PR of 'look how great ALia is'.

yeah for Ayushman content comes first but for Alia she is above content. But then if only Ayushman knew KJo personally.

U r right. She is only good in 2 States, Gully boy and Raazi. Since she is a brahmin she was compatible for south indian girl character and since she is muslim she looked convincing in the other 2 films. Just bcos u acted in content rich films and they became hits doesn't make u grt actress. She is overhyped as actor. But she gained a following with her other type films like Student, dulhaniya which gained her following. After seeing udta punjab, highway recently i realised she is not the grt actress she is being made out to be. Priyanka, Kangana wud have done far far better job in those roles if only they wud have been given those films which they shud have got. It is a shame that they were not offered to them. Priyanka in Barfi - that i what acting is.

Most people expect her movies to be good because KJo handpicks the scripts and directors for her, otherwise on her own she has not much going for her.
As an actress, shes competent but not great. Yet has to show greatness in her performances, something that can go above and beyond the script, that she has not shown yet.

Yeah like Ranbir..only youth following. Also though i like him SRK doesn't have following in masses.

Aloo's stardom is Manufactured stardom, curated by KJo and his PR juggernaut. Her stardom is not organic, not achieved on her own merits/efforts, hence it cant be called a genuine stardom.

🤣 ... 😆
OT .. NO, from last few of her movies ... I wouldn't call Alia's "stardom" a myth! ... She's got her own set of fan following! ... She's been in the industry for 7 yrs now (SOTY a 2012 release) .. don't think one can THIS successful for that many years only based on nepotism .. as much as I dislike nepotism and Alia ... I'll be biased if I don't give the credit where due!

No, Ranbir is admired for his acting skills, by all ages and generations.
As for SRK I guess you did not see his stardom at its highest peak, even now he has crazy fan following even in the masses. Only hes not making movies for the masses, when he makes movies for masses again he will get success again.
