This was 6 years ago, after Race 3. There was a similar thread a few years before where I had a longer comment. And because these things keep repeating, I'll just copy it.

Salman has one of the sharpest minds, if not the most, in the business. He is doing exactly what can be done and that is making as many films as possible and as soon as possible. To still make them commercially viable, at least on paper, he is doing either sequels or remakes. Fans will show up no matter what they trend.

People saying the khans should reinvent themselves like Big B did, the issue with that is that Big B started playing age approporate roles, as in he started to play a dad to older actors and started being paired with actresses his own age.

Big B was 59 years old in K3G, playing a father to srk and hrithik, he was paired opposite his own wife jaya bachchan. Big B was 58 when he did mohabbatain, playing the father of aishwarya rai. Big B did a movie like baghban when he was 62, and he was paired opposite hema malini and was a father to 4 adults. The khans are all turning 60 this year, but none of them would play those kind of roles Big B has played. They all want to play the young dashing hero for as long as they can.

Big B was able to reinvent and is still a big superstar today, mainly because he realised that he can't play the same role again and again, he has to evolve and accept that his age is increasing and use that to his strength. Last year he was part of one of the biggest hits kalki even at the age of 82,
