Hahaha #LukaChuppi was a great flick. Laughed so much. Very funny punchlines and comedy scenes. Youth will go crazy. Kartik and Kirti relationship in the movie was too good. It's same like badhaai ho, first half way too funny with an more emotional less comedy 2nd half

my review
It was presented well and had funny moments. This is a winner for Kartik he was charming, it is refreshing to see him in a light-hearted movie where his character is not against marriage. He also had funny scenes of distress here where he was misunderstood by his family and Kriti's onscreen family. Kirti makes a nice couple with Kartik she was good too. It was a nice change to see the roles reversed girl for live-in boy wants to get married.
Furthermore, no big deal was made of making out, nonetheless, the film can be watched with family. Only the condom scene can be avoided if you take young kids.
The nosy neighbour in Gwalior was very relatable and amusing
Special mention to aparshakti pankaj and chiku they were really funny. I really enjoyed aparshakti. Nice to see Bollywood normalising live in though it is common not many movies are made about it. This film had a nice take on the theme it was different from stereotypical Bollywood as not every live-in couple gets pregnant.
first half was better with the live in story discovering each other but second half had more luka chuppi. Second half is decent it is also presented well and challenges society's perceptions. There is a nice closure to Nazim Khan part they didnt just use this for the sake of it.

I liked duniya song and photo song was good too. Coca cola is catchy
Do give it a watch

LUKA CHUPPI MOVIE REVIEW

Critics Rating: 3.5

LIVE AND LET LIVE-IN

STORY: A meet cute between Guddu (Kartik Aaryan) and Rashmi (Kriti Sanon) soon escalates into full-blown love. But in a daring attempt, the girl wants to try living-in with the boy before settling down for marriage. This even as their small town in North India is up in the arms against live-in relationships, thanks to protests led by none other than the girl's own father, who is a local right-wing party leader.

REVIEW: 'Luka Chuppi' is a situational comedy from the word go. And the situation in question is live-in relationships. What starts as a news story for a local reporter Guddu, turns into his own love story with hilarious complications. But peddling along are a host of other societal issues like misogyny, gender inequality, caste bias and moral policing that are tackled in a funny and harmless way. However, there is hardly a dull moment in the film that never takes itself too seriously.

As a debutante, director Laxman Utekar does a fine job of throwing in a bunch of quirky characters in unusual situations. Starting with the film's hero Kartik Aaryan, who looks way too polished for his small-town character, but along the way, you soon start rooting for him. Whether he is covering a story or running for cover himself - Kartik exudes an endearing charm that is relatable. Ditto for Kriti. With all her prettiness and poise, she portrays the character of a girl-next-door without being over-the-top. However, the funny thing is, the two stand out as the only gorgeous couple in the entire town, what with the perfect touch of makeup and hairdo at all times. Their chemistry is not exactly crackling, but quite easy going, which works well for the narrative.

While Aparshakti Khurana plays the supportive friend Abbas adequately well, there is a very noticeable lack of comic punches in his dialogues. Pankaj Tripathi, a regular in this genre, is largely wasted in a role that could have been etched out far more elaborately. The rest of the actors, get ample chance to contribute generously. Be it the eccentric members of Guddu's joint family or Rashmi's politician dad, who uses his clout to rally against inconsequential issues.

But what really makes 'Luka Chuppi' an entertaining watch is the nuanced writing by Rohan Ghoge and its execution. The first half is swift and packed with funny moments that end in an unpredictable twist. The second half too, is marked by quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. At some point, the humour becomes repetitive, but it's the short run-time that comes to the film's rescue. Film's two most popular songs (Coca-Cola & Poster) are thrown in at the end, during the credit roll.

Overall, 'Luka Chuppi' is a fun ride that never gets too preachy or uncomfortable for the family audience. It's a clean entertainer with a message that's not too loud, but clear, for sure.

Luka Chuppi Is A Mood-Changer!

FILMFARE ME STARS: (3/5)

Perhaps the funniest part of Luka Chuppi is the way old Hindi film songs are used as background score in the most dramatic of situations. Right from the aalap of the well known Manna Dey song from Padosan ( Saanwariya Saanwariya), Sajan ghar mai chali from Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Tujhe Sooraj Kahoon ya Chanda from Ek Phool do Mali even Jaan Pehchaan Ho from Gumnaam the songs are placed in the most unusual of situations and sit perfectly with the narrative of the film that bases itself on live-in relationships in small towns. In this case Mathura and Gwalior.

Kartik Aaryan Kriti Sanon play a couple keen on a live-in relationship and manage to live together but what ensues is a comedy of errors that keep the laughs uninterrupted. The film is shot in Gwalior largely and deals with issues such as joint families, gossiping aunties, moral policing etc and the issue of a couple in love who want to live together to see if they can be married at all. Aparshakti Khurrana plays an important role and pulls out a few laughs in this light-hearted comedy. Kartik who charmed us as the wicked Sonu in Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety plays the kind-hearted Guddu in love with Kriti in Luka Chuppi and is at ease with his role and his character of a TV reporter. Also, he is a Gwalior boy and is at perfect ease in his hometown where the film is majorly shot. Kriti Sanon looks pretty and elegant in her role that also reminds you of her role in Bareilly ki Barfi. Pankaj Tripathi plays Babulal, who is a compulsive saree-chaser throughout the film and lends his brand of humour to the narrative. Vinay Pathak as the politician Tripathiji is convincing in his role in the film which is a situational comedy.
The brilliantly written film by Rohan Shankar offers the right punches in dialogues and has been expertly directed by cinematographer Laxman Utekar.
A fun, light hearted film with a small suggestion of a message. Nothing preachy!

Luka Chuppi Film Review: Kartik Aaryan is charming and Kriti Sanon is relatable in this sweet romcom

The film is an enjoyable watch that is directed at a young audience

Film: Luka Chuppi

Director: Laxman Utekar

Cast: Kriti Sanon, Kartik Aaryan, Aparshakti Khurana, Pankaj Tripathi

There is always a level of scepticism involved while reviewing offbeat romantic comedies. It's become a bit of genre in Bollywood these days with Bareilly Ki Barfi, Stree, Badhai Ho and Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety dominating the box office. More and more people want to tell sweet, relatable stories that strike a chord with the average people rather than go with a high-fidelity story (Thugs of Hindostan, Zero) that fails to make a mark.

RECOMMENDED READ: Luka Chuppi stars Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon paint the town red as they promote their film in Delhi

Luka Chuppi tells the story of an average young man named Guddu Shukla (Kartik Aaryan) and Rashmi Trivedi (Kriti Sanon) that will definitely make you want more of this genre. It's a well-made romantic comedy that makes subtle social commentary without sermonizing (cough Sui Dhaaga cough). Guddi and Rashmi's romance is lovable and hilarious without turning slapstick or overdone.

It's the small town of Mathura where Guddu is a cable tv news reporter and Rashmi is the daughter of a Culture Protection Group's head, Trivedi Ji (Vinay Pathak). Guddu and Rashmi soon fall in love but the small town won't let them hang out like two consenting adults. Society here has already raised a hue and cry against the idea of a man or woman living together. So what do they do? They hide it from everyone, hence the name Luka Chuppi.

Stills from Luka Chuppi

Director Laxman Utekar's vision is crystal: he wants to tell a story about two people in love and demands why that's such a bad thing. All they want to do is to live together before they actually get married. Rashmi's character is forward-thinking and she immediately suggests this live-in' arrangement much to the surprise of Guddu. However, the only pitfall is how writer Rohan Shankar sees Rashmi's character. Perhaps it is a common pitfall for most male writers when they begin or continue creating female protagonists.

In Luka Chuppi, while we see that Rashmi has a progressive mindset, she wants to work after she gets married once she is in a situation where she's living with Guddu's family, she merely nods at the idea of working. Her character's stagnant development in the second half of the film is perhaps one of my very few issues with the narrative of the film. Another element that doesn't make much sense is how the main problem of both the protagonists is merely to offer the ritual. For two individuals who are empowered and irreverent enough to dare to live life on their own terms, this is a bit of an inconsistency.

Team of Luka Chuppi

But these are small issues and I'm willing to look past them. Kartik Aaryan has a childlike charm to him that makes him impossible to dislike, ignore or forget. There 's kindness in his eyes, honesty in his laugh and simplicity in his demeanour that makes him likeable and extremely engaging. Kriti Sanon executes this role effortlessly. She's naturally stylish, easy-going in her manner and appears thoroughly urban without trying, which makes her a perfect fit for a smart, modern young woman struggling with orthodox norms.

The supporting cast is stellar. Pankaj Tripathi is hilarious and expertly provides comic relief as Babu Lal, Guddu's sleazeball brother-in-law. Aparshakti Khurana as Abbas, Guddu's best friend, with his deadpan humour and on- point dialogue delivery is one of the highlights of the film. While some of the songs may be a little blas and the lyrics are slightly mind-boggling (Coca Cola tu? Seriously?) the film is a smooth 2 hours and 6 minutes long and doesn't dull your brain cells or insult your intelligence.

Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in Luka Chuppi

Luka Chuppi is an enjoyable watch that is directed at a young audience who will find it very relatable. It also subtly touches upon various relevant and timely social issues. Go for it and have a good time at the movies!
