Anyway, she was actually way more popular and had bigger fanbase than jennifer at one point. However, she failed to move further cos of her disinterest. Which is fair i guess, you're given a chance but you think you're too good for it. in that case you're bound to disappear, there's lot more ppl out there who want that kind of appreciation and fame that she achieved so easily in the beginning of her tv career. She was never a good actress to begin with, what attracted ppl the most was her innocent pretty face.
Her ardent fans are still holding grudges against jennifer though lol. They consider her to be the reason behind shilpa's career failure, i kinda thought the same at the beginning too cos i loved shilpa. But the truth is jennifer is career driven and shilpa wasnt. Jennifer has that go-getter attitude and shilpa is laid back who want things to come her way on silver platter.

She was not that great actress. I never got the hype of her. I don't think she got so many offers like somebody said. Why would producers keep offer her work when there are many young and better actreses than her? Nowadays, I see her fans and Ksgians keep requesting for DMG remake with her and jobless KSG but that's not gonna happen. However, it will give both jobless actors some work.

I don't know about you guys but Shilpa was never a good actress. Very pretty but not a great actress. And yes, the industry is not as glamorous as it looks from the outside. I know alot of the older actresses just quit. Be it Neha Bamb(in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai) to Shilpa Anand to Soumya Seth to many others.

If Bollywood actresses have short-lived careers, television actresses even a shorter career span. ESPECIALLY if they are not in Ekta or Gul clan.

Even Prachi Desai who had huge potential after gaining so much popularity in television, she decided to go for a mediocre b-grade Bollywood career and eventually fell off the radar.

It's better to rule one medium than just be at the bottom of the ladder in another.

Jennifer lasted in the industry for so long without Gul and Ekta. Whether in BW or TV, you have to try hard to get offers. Like Kareena had been doing for 18 years.

Actress 'slapped' for refusing to kiss

By Omer Farooq BBC correspondent in Hyderabad An Indian movie star has been charged with assaulting an actress who refused to kiss his son in a film scene. Mohan Babu, a leading southern Indian film actor and former member of parliament, has been also booked for "wrongful confinement" and intimidation. Kissing on screen is still a taboo in India... The police said the incident took place at a studio in the southern city of Hyderabad on Tuesday evening during the filming of a Telugu-language film, Vishnu. The film is being produced by Mohan Babu to launch his son Vishnu's movie career. 'Slapped' The actress, Shilpa Shivanand, says that Mohan Babu became angry with her when she did not take part in a song sequence which involved her kissing Vishnu. Shilpa said that when she refused to do the scene again, an enraged Mohan Babu slapped her. ...but recent films are pushing the boundaries When her mother Parveen Sivanand tried to intervene, she was also allegedly beaten up. Following the assault, the actress says Mohan Babu followed them in to the make-up room and intimidated them, threatening them with legal action if she did not complete the filming. Shilpa called her sister, who was in Bombay, who in turn contacted the Hyderabad police. But when the police reached the studios it was empty. The police traced the actress and her mother to a hotel in the city and recorded their statement there. Later the actress along with her mother left for Bombay. Mohan Babu has been unavailable for comment. Kiss taboo This is not the first time that the actor finds himself on the wrong side of the law. Mohan Babu, who started his film career playing villains, has figured in several other cases of assaults and violation of laws in the past. Kissing scenes are still taboo in Indian films, with few actresses willing to commit to one on the screen. That trend is however changing, with a rash of new films exploring bolder, more sexually explicit themes.

Jennifer did couple more shows before she was casted in kzk. And i think the person above meant ekta never really launched her as lead. She was always given side roles in ekta's shows. Only after she stepped out of Ekta camp, she started to get lead roles

The point is its already hard to survive in this industry even for extremely talented ppl. And shilpa was neither exceptionally talented, nor she was driven or willing to continue working in tv shows.

Forget Jennifer, most of the main cast of DMG (Drashti, Sukirti, Sehban, Wahi etc etc) are still in business except Shilpa. Clearly she doesnt give a hoot about her career.
