u can mean in any way no probs lol , I am just talking about her ,she seems more like traditional with modern outlook , in her times she can be considered as radical progressive as she is more progressive n ahead of her times but she comes across as advanced n progressive n independent

Same here...Why would anybody opt for a lesser life just for love? Or may be we have never experienced 'that kind' of love, yet! 😆

I read somewhere even Jeetendra has proposed to her!

Sanjeev Kumar decided to never marry after she rejected his proposal...As a result Sulakshana Pandit, who was in love with Sanjeev Kumar, also decided to remain unmarried!

Sanjeev Kumar was heartbroken when Hema married Dharmendra. And he died soon when he was in 40s due to heavy drinking.

He left her for his first wife, Prakash Kaur, right.

Technically he did not leave his first wife for her and he still visits Hema.. So its some kind of weird, unfathomable, stupid, immoral and suitable for them arrangement😆

She wanted a love marriage is what I feel. Hema rejected a lot of marriage proposals just so she could be with him.

Also one can't say that she will never get the indpendence, chance to continue acting if she married another actor because even Jaya acted after marriage. She was preggers with Shweta during the shooting of Sholay she quit after she had the kids. Saira also did act after marriage but she retired after her career did not take off. It was not the norm but I'm sure if Hema wanted to act she could have found a single guy who will never put restrictions on her ambitions.

I feel Hema knew what she was getting in to and made the most out of what she got. She adjusted to live the life of a second wife and it turned out to be blessing in disguise for her. She said in Simi's show it was destiny that she got married to Dharmendra. She sound like a true romantic.

ya may be she thought through love marriage she can ve freedom n live on her choice n when destiny happened she made arrangements n adjustments like balanced society n her choices n she lived on her choice life n also wat life given made her choice also n lived it so everything is her choice lol

That is truly tragic.Atleast Hema got her kids and grand kids. I did not know the details of her marriage just heard that she also got married to an already married man.

Most of the yesteryear actresses have really scandalous or tragic personal lives. Very few got to have a normal marital life when they get married.

Yes long time back I searched about old actresses' personal lives, and they were so tragic. It made me feel so sad for days. I was worried what if the same happens to today's actresses. But I am so glad Anushka, DP, and Sonam found such good partners and true love. And Finally PC found it too. In PC's case I am not sure if it's true love or what, but I know she's happy and it's with her full consent so I am happy for her too. I am glad Anushka went to get her own PH and DP I heard is trying to do the same. Now I want Kat and Kangana also to have love in their lives.

Thank God, the times have changed. I think old times the actresses didn't have much choice as I heard the profession was not respected. I don't think all were dumb. It's more likely that they couldn't find single men. So most had to settle with married man and go crazy to break another woman's house. Some became mistresses and some had to marry someone else. Madhubala was the only one who was so in love with single man. Rest were all similar. And even until now except Kareena and Preity all married married men from what I see. But I finally saw the change from this current actresses Anuska, DP, etc.

Do Esha/Ahana and Sunny/Bobby have good relationship? I have never even seen pictures of them together, and I have always been curious what the half-siblings relationship is like 😳. Did the brothers come to the sisters wedding?
I believe that Abhay Deol is close to Esha.

On topic: I will never understand their whole dynamic.. like why would Hema settle for a much married Dharam. I guess for love, but I will never understand it 😆. Also, she was like the "other woman" in Dharam's life. She never got the status of a "wife" I feel like, and had to settle for whatever Dharam could give her, unlike Boney and Sri. She also single handedly raised Esha and Ahana.

Well I read in one article, which was admittedly praising Hema a lot, that if Hema needs Dharam she asks but if Prakash refuses or Dharam can't come, then she steps back. She never insists or demands anything. She is the one who has single-handedly raised her daughters. Whatever work it is, she has had to handle herself and she has been very strong.

I don't know why but I believe it. Hema does come across to me as a very strong lady. It's not easy to stay alone, having married a man but still not have any rights over him. Yes, I think she made a big mistake in choosing a married man, maybe she thought Dharam will be as into her as he was before marriage. But like always, marriage changes that man's way of looking at Hema. He's just not as interested in her afterwards. So, he doesn't want to disturb his happy home with Prakash and his 'sons' and lets the other wife handle 'her daughters'. I'm not saying this must be the reason..the gender thing but just struck my mind that sometimes you hear stories of how one wife was the favourite for bearing sons.😕

I agree. I think they truly love each other and married and have managed to make it last despite all these issues/unfairness. If hema had sons, I don't think he would neglect them as much. He chose the family that was more important in the end, the one with "sons
