What a coincidence!

But to me it looks like she was planning this from day 1 or else I don't see the need to say this with so much emphasis on it.
Even the director who came to her with manikarnika, says she asked for co directing credit.

Interview is from sep 2017. Well before the issue with manikarnika with krish started.
She had plans to hijack direction credit from beginning of 2017. When she first tried it with Mehta

I also guessed this sometime back...that she must've plannedthis long back...

I remember reading an article that the movie she wants to direct after Simran will be put on back burner for manikarnika...
That time didn't think much of it...but now realised, she was already planning to do this...

Getting her name on the credit list of manikarnika as the director is like the ultimate thing cause Jhansi Rani is the best and most famous example of equality and feminism...

The problem is they don't have issues, they'll love that tea... And bash others who don't like it..

Imagine the situation of future, after the movie is completed every actor ( hero , heroine , villain ) will come up with their own " Vision and want to edit out this and that character , and all will want to reshoot to create their own "vision and take the credit . How many visions a movie can have ? 🤣

Exactly the movie should have only one vision .. the director's...

People sign trusting him and the script... Imo Sonu was smart to refuse working after the changes were made... Who would want to be a caricature when you can do prominent roles

I'm looking for performance-oriented, substantial roles: Swati Semwal

Actress Swati Semwal has quit Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi as she was not sure if her "role would have been substantial anymore", reports news agency IANS. Swati Semwal was playing Parvati, wife of Maratha Army commander-in chief Sadhashivrao Bhau. Sonu Sood, who quit the film last month, had signed for Sadhashivrao Bhau's role. "I have quit the project. Earlier also I was not sure, I was in two minds, but a few days back, my team had a meeting and we decided to quit the project because I don't think so at this point of time, this project is good for the career path that I am taking," Swati told IANS.

Asked if Sonu Sood's exit made her take this decision, Swati said, "Not really. At this point, whatever project I am signing for or even what I have done, whether it is Bareilly Ki Barfi or Fanney Khan... Not that they were very big roles, but whatever was there, was pretty substantial."

"I'm looking for performance-oriented, substantial roles. I am not stuck on lead roles, but whatever I have to do, I want it to be substantial enough and even Manikarnika had a pretty strong character. But now I don't think so it's the same anymore," she added.

Sonu Sood had walked out of the project due to a scheduling conflict. According to his spokesperson, he was filming Simmba when Kangana asked him to reshoot portions for Manikarnika. However, the 45-year-old actor, who that time had to sport a bearded look for Simmba, asked Manikarnika makers to reschedule it after he completes Simmba's part, but things didn't work out. Sonu Sood's role is now being played by Zeeshan Ayyub.

Giving more details about what made her take the decision, Swati Semwal told IANS, "After the meeting, I realised that it was not so significant anymore. It was not what we signed for when I signed the film, so we decided to part ways," she added.

"My work would have definitely reduced. Thinking about that, we decided we should not take this up again. Now, I don't know whether the writers, Kangana or producer took this decision, but I am sure whatever they are doing, they are doing in the best interest for the film. Everyone wants the film to go ahead and do well. From my side, I have no bad feelings or a bitter taste. One has to do what one has do. I am doing what I have to do for my career. And they have to do what they have to do for the film," Swati told IANS.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut also stepped into the director's shoes of for a few portions of the film as Krish Jagarlamudi is right now focusing on some other project.

Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi is a biopic on Rani Laxmi Bai and Kangana plays the titular role. A new poster of the film arrived this morning and the teaser will release on October 2.

Actress Mishti Chakraborty, who plays Kashibai in the Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is highly disappointed with the way her role has turned out in the recently released film. Talking exclusively with Cine Blitz, the actress shared, "I am hugely disappointed with the way my character has shaped up. When you sign a film there are basic promises that are made to you by the filmmakers. We always knew that the film's director is Krish and he is a superbly talented director. I adore him and I always wanted to work with him. He had sent me pictures for casting reference of Kashibai and I immediately said yes to him. But when I saw the film I was disappointed.

Mishti who has done a lot of films down South says that she did the film for Krish. When asked if he directed most of her scenes she said, "What Krish did with most of the characters including me is not there in the film. But then I am happy that Kangana ne finally jitna bhi direction kiya hai, she has made it look beautiful. She has done absolute justice to her own character and to the film.

Mishti further adds, "She has done justice to Rani Laxmibai. I am happy if I were to see it from a bigger perspective, but on a selfish perspective, as an artiste I think my character has turned into a caricature.

The actress wants to be more careful in choosing her projects here in Bollywood. "In Hindi I am sorting out my offers carefully now because I don't want this to repeat again. I think I deserve much more than this. I had a small character in Begum Jaan as well, but it was amazing that so many people had appreciated me in that film, even though there was such a big actress in the film. And the way they handled each and every character, ek achche film mein aisa hi hota hain. So what if the character is only for a few minutes on screen but it has to be shown in such a way that audience fall in love with that character too, shared Mishti.

She adds, "I am being very cautious. I have a lot of offers in Bengali and they are mostly for commercial films. I want to do something in Bengali that is very substantial. Srijit Mukherji, Kamleshwar Da some good work with them. I am also doing films down south why do I need to do this kind of work here.

If you have a problem with EVERY damn person you work with then probably the problem is in you and not others!

The entire world cannot always be against you!

Regret the time I supported her over hrithik issue and I did watch Manikarnika..kangana is brilliant in it..only if she stopped her crazy antics every time! 🥱

I am not sure whether you are a woman or a man. But I think some of the men are also like that. They want all the credit for themselves too. It's not just limited to women.

The actor said labourers and technicians are "devalued" in the film industry and she would not tolerate such behaviour towards them. "It is very sad. I have always opposed such practices. I don't know why actors get unnecessary attention and importance in the film industry and because of that I want to be a technician," she said.
"I feel they are absolutely devalued. I want to venture into writing and direction as they are unsung heroes of the film industry. When such things it should not be tolerated," Kangana said here during an event.

Reality:
Krish, Have you been paid?

Only 30 per cent of my fee. If the balance comes one day, it's okay.

If this is true then it is ironic really. 😆 but then we haven't heard Ranaut's side of the story.

With changing directors more than anybody could count on one's film. Then it will be no surprise if the quality of the film is bad.
