Detailed review later but DHAMAAL!! What a way to end the year man. This year is easily Ranveer's rise from a wannabe superstar to a bonafide superstar...
Just watched it. Totally in love with Ranveer 😳 When I saw the trailer I thought Ajay's presence will affect simbas image but I am glad Ranveer dif the role in his own style.👏 Sara hardly had 5 scenes.
I really liked most of the dialogues👏It was a paisawasool film.I also liked Ashutosh rana he is one of my favourites.👏 That defence lawyer was hell annoying and artificial. 😲

Completely forgot to write the review for the film. It was one of Rohit's less torturous films onscreen and a good one by Shetty's standards. The biggest relief was the absence of Golmaal style gudgudee deke hasaana. The laughs and comedy scenes were pretty much organic in the film (except for that Simmba- Sara friend slap sequence). I liked both the parts and thought there was a good balance of comedy and drama. There wasn't much to guess since the whole film was literally revealed in the trailer but overall, an enjoyable holiday film which I'm not sure if I would like much if it was released some other time. The high point of the film has got to be Singham's entry. I couldn't hear the music during that scene as the audience went CRAZY and everyone was hooting and whistling. The best part of Simmba has got to be Ranveer. It took a bit of time to get used to Bhalerao's OTTness in the beginning but with time, I got used to it. This is an out and out Ranveer Singh film and he was DHAMAAL throughout the film. What I liked most about Ranveer was that he was honest with his performance and did not take it for granted just because it's a masala film and audience ko kuch farq nahi padega like Salman and SRK usually does. My most favorite scene of his was his breakdown sequence at the hospital pre-interval. I think that's the most amount of effort I've seen an actor give while acting in a masala film which somehow actors think doesn't need acting. It was a delight seeing him onscreen and what a way to end the year onscreen. I might not have pleasant opinions of him offscreen but no one can deny that this has been the year of Ranveer's transition from a wannabe superstar to a certified one. Easily my favorite masala movie star at the moment. It was also a delight to see Ashutosh Rana play a positive character after a long time and that too with so much of sincererity. Siddharth Jadhav too much was a good addition to the cast. I actually liked most of the ensemble. They looked very real and not OTT like other Shetty films.I also didn't have a problem with the film not having many women despite being a film about woman's safety like it is being criticized. I don't think this film was about women at all. It was about men and their frail ego, power play and driving home the point that boys will not be boys and will be responsible and answerable for their actions. One of the reasons I loved the climax was for this. For the judgement, the things the mother had to say and also things that the judge had to say to the mother. Those who are silent are as much responsible as the criminals. The rape revenge plot is questionable but that's what films are for. To take out our frustration in ways that are not possible in the real life. I'm pretty sure everyone of us here have had the same thought as that of Simmba when we read about Nirbhaya or other rape cases. But we still can't do anything since we are governed by certain laws. And since we usually know who the criminal is in such rape revenge dramas, I don't really find them that problematic.Coming to the things that I didn't like about the film- first of them has to be Sara. She was TERRIBLE beyond words. She is not just cut for such roles. Add to that an accented hindi diction. 'Kha kha, aapka khaana laayi hoon'. Yuck! 🤢 She didn't have much to do in the film but even in the parts she was there, she was so bad.She was way better in Kedarnath and should thank her stars this wasn't her debut film.It would've been a career suicide for her.I also didn't like the OTT handling of the court sequences. Way too melodramatic and 90's. And the actor who played the defense lawyer- oh god, such terrible acting! He forgot this is a film and not a freaking village theatre play. So OTT. Cringeworthy. Also I feel Rohit should've stopped the ' Tell me something I don't know' dialogue after sometime. It was getting repetitive and boring. Same with the songs. Very average. Kuch toh original rakh dete yaar.Another BIG problem with the whole language of the film was this ' respect women since she is your mother/sister' attitude. For once, can we just stop this maa- behen business and respect women just for the fact they are women?Blood boils when I hear these 'maa jaisi/behen jaisi' dialogues in films and real life.Anyways, overall a satisfactory end to movie watching in 2018. Some of the dialogues in the film were lit af! 'Bhaai from another aai'. Mere paas maa hai, behen hai, bas bhai nahi hai.Par wo toh tere paas bhi nahi. MIC DROP WORTHY! 👏Eagerly looking forward to see more of Ranveer in 2019.
