"She's putting India on the map" lol. India is already on the map. I think some people are just desperate for white approval mostly.

People (across all social media) now want couples to go to India for destination weddings because apparently destination wedding are good now. While previously they were demeaning Anushka and Deepika for daring to have a destination wedding. I swear the headassery is too much.

I can't believe the "not being able to handle PC's success" stuff is being turned into such a big feminism debate when there are so many severe instances/examples in real life that could use this energy. I wish people cared and idolised their fellow neighbours/ordinary people as much as they do with these celebrities.

Yes and no. She didn't put India on the map. But she did introduce India/Indian weddings/culture to a boatload of people who had not much clue about it. Not just white people...just western people in general. Nick Jonas also gained a 1 billion more eyes. I barely knew the guy. Now I KNOW him. It's going both ways I think.

When two big stars marry from two different countries...you instantly double the eyes on you and maybe eyes on your work as well. That's good for all.

At the end of the day, she seems to be living her dream - adored by her husband and his new family, traveling around the world, being on magazine covers like Vogue, doing what she loves to do and having a whole new generation of fans around the world now. Nobodies online can continue to whine about how "fake" she is for the rest of their life, they can join the faceless sea of people online who want to give an opinion about everything...even though nobody really gives a damn.

It's a bit [[ far fetched ]] to say people can't digest her success! ... though I do agree that her wedding has been scrutinized very NEGATIVELY when it should have been blessed with positivity ... one can criticize their wedding but thinking it's a scam and how they'll part ways, divorce in few yrs is very bitter! ...No one can say fosho whether it's a marriage of convenience or love marriage .. and who cares really .. many people yet in India have "arrange marriages" which are far from any "love" ... they still end up finding companionship and even love as time goes! ... plus I am not sure why people think 3-4 months isn't enough to decide on a marriage .. a cousin of mine dated for 3 months and they both knew they were IT and decided to settle down! ... So all this "fake marriage" non sense is complete BS! ... If their marriage is a SCAM, so are most of the arrange marriages of the world...😆

Well I don't see many Indians in Hollywood, and you know it's just nice when an Indian makes it big (or at least breaks through). Yes it's just an entertainment industry but it's so important to have representations and PC is trying to do that for us Indians. Believe it or not, I feel very proud to see an Indian on the Vogue US magazine. It may not be big for you but it's a big thing for some Indians like me.

Oh and she's not trying to stay relevant, I see it more as someone who doesn't want to just be lazy and have it the easy way. Come on she's already made it big in BW, what is she gonna do next to outdo her previous work? She wants to dream big and she's willing to work hard to achieve that dream. If anything that is something to admire.

By being a B/C lister in Hollywood?
