Why we cannot digest success of a female like Priyanka Chopra?

Rani deserved so much more recognition for her performance in Hichki. The movie did so incredibly well in China, yet I only saw a couple of articles talking about the film's success. She deserves so much more credit. :(

Instead of appreciating and applauding PC's ambition and determination to excel outside of India, people are mocking her. It's a shame really cus PC is just trying to make Indian artists known and be taken seriously.
Just today someone at a shop was talking about her wedding and saying how beautiful the palace looked. I don't think many people realise what PC is doing for India. It may not be revolutionary but she's still doing her bit to represent India and do her country proud.

I have so many non-Indian friends who thought PC's wedding was stunning and they didn't realize how beautiful places like Umaid Bhawan are in India, all people know is Taj Mahal in India. People actually know her and like her. This forum def is not representative of real life.
While we sit here and tear about PC, Sonam, DP, Anushka etc etc bridal looks, other people around the world are in awe of how beautiful everything is and looks. And we sit here criticizing every detail- myself included.

PC gets called wanna-be, greedy, sly etc for being ambitious and a go-getter. BW actors don't get the same shit.

I don't care who you are. If you're going around doing problematic stuff you deserve to get dragged. I don't get why people bring success and yadda yadda into it and say we can't digest someone's success. Hell you could discover the cure to cancer but if you're a shitty person you're gonna get dragged. End of.
Let's not bring in the PC is a successful female and people can't handle the success angle here. There's more successful females and they get dragged plenty here. Let's not be oversensitive.

I agree with your point about hyping underrated performances like Rani's in Hitchki though. There should be more of that. But when it comes to dragging everyone gets dragged here.

I'm dead serious. I'll give you a few examples: repeatedly engaging in affairs with married men is a character defect. I do blame the men much more but it doesn't make you a nice person any way you look at it.

Also her politics are wishy washy and convenient for her. She openly criticises Trump but she's a fan of Modi? They're pretty similar so I don't get that. She can support whoever she wants but at least don't hide behind a facade and change your beliefs depending on where you are. She parades around as a liberal in the US yet back in India it's a whole other story. At least have the conviction to own your views.

The best way to avoid criticism nowadays is to spin the whole "but I'm successful, and you all are just mad or jealous instead of supporting me. Boohoo. I criticize man or woman that does dumb shit. Why discriminate, both sexes can act stupid af. 😆

And if I recall correctly, Modi attended Anushka's reception as well. And Geeta Basra's. He needs to find a new hobby; you'd think a politician would be too busy to mingle with celebrities so much, cuz let's not forget that outside of weddings he often meets and interacts with celebrities as well.

Very well said and much needed topic.
I am sorry to say, but some men cannot digest the success of another woman. And also some woman cannot digest the success of another woman.
If men succeed, even by hook or crook, they are hailed.
It is really sad.
PC has made India proud and continues to do us proud.
This patriarchal mindset will not end unless we change our own fundamental thinking.

The music/movies/TV success is great.
But dont make marrying a Hollywood star a big thing. As it belittles everyone who works in Bollywood. She is in love thats great. But be proud that she found love. Not that she found love with a Hollywood Star. It belittles Bollywood stars ⭐️

Imagine thinking marrying a Jonas brother is an achievement. She has many other actual achievements relating to her career idk why people are counting her marriage as one lmao because that certainly isn't one.
