That's unfair, insenstinse n will also make pyblip hate the lead characters. It's like if in Titanic Rose cursed her fiance when he jailed Jack ki wait you all will sink. N then iceberg hit. Thatd be very insenstinse to the lives lost.

But Being enraged for showing Muslims live in Kedarnath is bigoted n stupid imo.

OMG!!! Is tht what they say in the movie that the whole flood was a punishment because people did not agree to their love??

What utter rubbish ...They should never have shown such things...You should protest abt that and not about the nonsense they are protesting for.

I will reserve my comments over the whole 'love story leads to flood' argument till I watch the film because the two dialogues between the father and the daughter might be of completely different things put together in the trailer to make it controversial.

Looks like that in the trailer. It's so insulting to the people that died or suffered. Not that anyone believes natural disasters r due to cursed or something, but their intention to show it like that to glorify the love story is bad n pointless

I agree...and I would even understand ppl jumping the gun to protest against this without seeing the film...but they never will...and instead themselves propagate the theory that floods happen because women were allowed into temples etc...so of course no protest on this...instead about rubbish...

Hopefully the film doesnt show that the floods happen due to this, else its really insensitive to the people who suffered and died.

Dude I am a Hindu and my state of Kerala suffered from floods this year. To be honest I don't see the problem here. Yes at first that particular line did trouble me a bit. But I realise the movie has not even released yet. Maybe they r showing that uttering a curse does not mean it caused the actual calamity. Maybe they won't even explore the causational relationship there because there is nothing to explain. If we start looking for offense everywhere we will find lots and lots of instances there.
Then again, I did not have first hand experience of the Kedarnath tragedy. To these people I apologize if I hurt your sentiments. If your feelings were hurt by the particular line in the movie you should express your displeasure because you have more say than anyone else does in this matter.

I dont think they show it as the flood happened cause the love punished.

Its the Father saying that, if she marries a Muslim guy then god's wrath will fall upon them...

That gives it the conflict right? Like why are there movies about upper and lower caste romances...to bring the conflict element in a love story...there are so many Hindu Muslim/ Upper caste Lower caste/ Rich Poor love stories, but suddenly its all a major issue...

To me it looks like a lot of reaching to make it an issue somehow...And its these silly protesters who give it all the publicity...no one else...look at Padmavat, and the noise they made over absolutely nothing

My problem is not with Hindu-muslim love story. My problem is adding this just for the sake of it. How is it relevant whether SSR is a muslim or lower caste hindu or upper caste hindu. The major point is that flood came, they destroyed so much, few survived. just for the sake of controversy the hero is shown a muslim.

It is relevant if you listen to the opening dialogues of the trailer. Some people want two star hotels to be made so that more pilgrims can come to Kedarnath. Sushant suggests that there should be a cap on the number of pilgrims visiting Kedarnath and only that many should be allowed for whom the right arrangements can be made so that it's easier for the pilgrims and there's no burden on the mountain hill. To which, the other guys instead of arguing on his suggestion ask him 'Tum kahaan se aayein HAMAARE beech?' To which Sushant replies that he was always there as one of them and their whole generation has been a part of the porter service.

The whole tumhara and hamaara points to the fact that Sushant being a muslim in the film is still not one of them (the hindus) despite them all being into the service of peethus who help pilgrims reach the Kedarnath temple so that they can do their darshan.

That is why it's relevant to have a muslim character in a film based on a Hindu pilgrimage like Kedarnath where his religion doesn't come in between helping pilgrims finish their once in a lifetime darshan of Kedarnath. It is relevant because Sushant's character can not let his religion come in between his work yet the other workers will bring up religion and call him a stranger or not one of his own.

It is relevant because this is not just about Kedarnath but what's happening in many places. That a muslim living all his/her life in India is still seen as a stranger from another 'nation'. The reason why a film like Mulk had to be made. The reason why many Muslim dominated areas in a city is called 'Mini Pakistan' by the locals. That is why it is relevant. Because they are still seen as not one among us because of their religion and not because of their nationality.

It's way too easy to get triggered and offended with every small thing but dig deep and scratch the surface to find there are many things that might not be relevant for you but is relevant for many others that needs to be discussed, especially in the current political climate in the country.
