Hritik, Akki, Ajay are all superstars...but I was speaking in terms of the words like reign and rule etc...and the emotional connect they have with fans...I am not undermining the superstardom of these 3 stars.

Agree. I think its a combination of age and economics. Their presence inflates the budget of the movie and they don't essentially have the same connect with the audience that they had 10 years ago. Infact the movie going audience is also not the same and is now a lot younger than it has ever been.

The thing is that none of this generations actors, including Ranbir, Ranveer and Varun will EVER be able to attend the kind of freakish super-stardom that the three Khans achieved. Aamir debuted in 1987 or 88 and he is still very much around. TOH might be a big dud, but it achieved a historic opening and it was only due to Aamir. That says a lot about stardom.

Same goes for SRK and Salman. Their movies might not be doing that well, but their fan-base is pretty much intact. These guys are beyond films now. They will always be loved and cherished by their audience, irrespective of what films they do or not.

The Khans are well and truly, the last superstars of Hindi Cinema.

SRK just needs to reinvent himself, do a few films like Swades and Chak De and people will still come flocking to the theaters to watch him. He is so much loved by everyone still. A few flops or bad films don't take away years and years of good-will and affection that they have earned from everyone.

But that also means that they are more real. Superstardom is achieved when people have a god-like view about the stars- hero worship. No matter what the stars do, I will stand by them kind of fandom. of course...for whatever reason it may be...I am not saying its good or bad...the superstardom era is over.

I think the failure of thugs and race 3 will not impact the career of khans but will rather start a trend where khans will not be getting solo releases on festivals. I believe there will be more mid or low budget movies like satyamev jayate, badhaai ho, etc., booking their dates on edx.

A well made content oriented film would hv done very well this diwali and eid.

Am sure even Badhaai Ho and Satyamev Jayate could have touched Rs. 200 Crores if they got Solo releases during Eid or Diwali or Christmas.
